For various reasons I've never tried to fit the petrol tank properly on my bike... I got a pair of tank rubbers and tried putting everything in place but couldn't get it to fit properly (snapped my repaired radiator mount, took a chunk out of the body filler I used to repair a deep dent, was crushing a water pipe etc).
The only thing that springs to mind is it's a petrol tank from an air cooled GPz.
Now I don't know if I should just repair this tank and sell it on and try to buy a 900 tank instead.
Ever so slightly cheesed off becase the tank has been the one part that (believe it or not), has had the most work done to it (rust removal, kreem lined, dents repaired (with crushed acorns apparently), primed and painted, stripped, refilled dents properly, rewired fuel guage sender, tap stripped and cleaned etc etc).
Ever so slightly cheesed off now |

OK I'm slightly confused now, I'm sure if there was ever an LCD readout on the petrol tank there would have been some kind of indicator of it being there (where it screwed down or whatever) which there isn't.
On the air cooled picture it looks like there are 4 screws holding the side panel on, but there isn't any markings on the tank to suggest that either, they seem to clip in like the water cooled picture.
The petrol cap is definitely the one from the water cooled tank as I bought the air cooled one by mistake and it will not fit... so why is the water pipe being crushed, I've already checked and it wouldn't fit round the frame any other way and still reach the radiator
Back to the manual I think |
