well I thought about the sprocket but I don't have the tool and I don't wanna fuck it up. I also thought that if I do the 2 things together should be cheaper cause they already taking the chain out. Smile

Shouldn't be much to change a sprocket, especially if they already have the rear wheel out! Certainly not an hour!

20 quid is the average price for a lose wheel tyre change and no valve and balance. Ill bet he gets charged around 45 quid for them to change the sprocket. Get them to take the wheels off and do both jobs he will not get much change out of 100 quid.

I wouldn't pay a penny for any of it as I'd do it all myself.

That said, changing a sprocket is 5 minutes work. A tyre to a loose wheel is £10 near me whilst a tyre to a wheel still on the bike is £18. Changing the rear sprocket would add 5 minutes to the time taken to change the rear tyre (i.e. the wheel is being removed anyway). Changing the front sprocket would add an additional 5 minutes. Fitting a chain takes about 10 minutes if you need to rivet it, less if you use a split link.

In reality you'll probably be charged £25 a wheel and an additional hour labour (£50ish) on top for the sprockets. Maybe an hour and a half if you include the chain.

The moral of the story should be that you could fit the chain and sprockets yourself for free and pay £10 a wheel for the tyre changes if you take the wheels loose. I recently bought/made the kit to do tyre changes and balancing for less than £15 and changed two sports bike tyres a few weeks ago; quite frankly it is piss easy, the most time consuming part is fucking about getting the wheels on and off.
