Needing to add an alarm to my bike and found this:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Datatool-Snitcher-Text-Alrt-Motorcycle-Motorbike-Alarm-/150834205421?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item231e6b52ed

What are the pros and cons, if any/known?

Thanks a million Smile

IMHO no alarm is worth it, they cost a fair whack, you get fuck all off insurance, and no one pays attention to alarms these days (example I was complaining about a very annoying noise whilst at the pub the other day, only to be told it was my car alarm going off)
The siren only goes for a bit, so set it the alarm off, leave it till it is flashing indicators and then someone can just snap the steering lock and wheel it away.

That's not your usual alarm as it has no siren. I think it looks like a good idea (especially as in addition to texting you it can be used to roughly locate your bike should it be stolen), but it's still a little bit too expensive for me. If you do get it you should still combine it with an alarm/immobiliser.

The Cyclone alarms are less than £30 and have both alarm and immobiliser functions. Personally I think the immobiliser function is the most valuable out of the 3.

Has a microwave sensor to detect people before they touch the bike and a pager with supposed range of 3 miles, and is cheaper than the Datatool. Thumbs Up

Cheers, peeps.

Like the read of the pager alarm, though I'm a little skeptical as the communication effectiveness of the pager's proximity and battery life. Will consider it strongly, nevertheless.

Thumbs Up
