The one company that did used to do it for bikes, no longer does.
However, you could get insurance then cancel it first thing - maybe you "didn't but the bike after the test ride" as happened to me.
They may try and slap on a charge which you may have to fight - the one time I did it I was lucky and the way it worked turned out it my favour as I paid 1p for insurance on a 2006 GSXR1000 Smile.

If you go with the bigger insurers, direct rather than through a broker, there's very rarely an admin charge.

Edit: Scratch that, just checked a couple of pol docs and it seems they've all changed stance a bit. Admin fees now written in.

are you buying it private? if so the seller may not cancel their insurance until you have got home. Thats what I did when I bought my latest bike as my cover on the gixer included riding someone elses bike. I got home let him know then we sorted the insurance out.

This is one that I'd already tried - https://www.bikechatforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=247660 - it just takes you to a comparison site, with no short term policies available.

If you have cover to ride other people's bikes and you say agree it's an extended test ride and not your bike yet - then that should be ok.
However, it could get dodgy in court if you did get done.

There was only one company doing daily insurance for bikes as far as I know and they stopped quite recently.

Ebike insurance should still do monthly insurance.

I know theres that G but i presume the seller could have something in writing from the buyer to cover this angle. I guess it depends on the situation. My seller was more than happy to do this for me but we had been in touch over a few weeks before I bought the bike as I had to get the cash together as I didnt have it when I spotted the bike.
He knew I wasnt a time waster and think he was keen to see his bike go to someone who he knew really wanted it. I did the same thing when I sold my gixer, I held it on a deposit for nearly a month as the guy was offshore. When I rode my new purchase home I was mindful that if I damaged it that it was my fault and it would have been my insurance carrying the can for it rather than the sellers. Its a matter of trust between both parties.

I'd still be a little worried that if Police turned up at his door and said "is this your bike", they'd just say "nope, just sold it" for ease, etc.

Not all policies require the bike to be already insured - and I suspect you'd have troubling get it cancelled until tomorrow anyway for the same reasons Smile.

Just as a heads up - I'd taken out a 1 month PAYG policy with eBike for the CB for £33 and as I've now sold it, cancelled the policy. I was charged the £6 admin fee, for one day's insurance Thumbs Up
