Hi guy's i recently won a bike on ebay a CCM TL125 chines thing it had a bent valve poring oil and a creamed piston along with a seized mixture screw all the way out causing a constant back fire - Price paid was 116 not bad with a years tax and mot.

I order parts ripped it to pieces and done a full/fast restoration looks good now runs like a dream BUT gets hot even though the mixture screw ect is all correct fuel mixtures starts first time and goes iv done over 400 miles to date but the getting really hot issue is frustrating, I don't no whether its to do with the fact its a chines engine and just a poor design or what,

Iv been doing some research on getting a oil cooler some people have got them for bored up CG125s - 140/150cc's but not having any look on finding one or how to get it to pump the oil around to the cooler and back , This is were i think you guys could help.

Thanks to anyone who takes the time to read and to post back.
And yes i do no i should of paid for something Japanese but its a cheap run about for work Smile

The mixture screw on the carb only effects the tickover and low revs range so will have no effect on the temp of the engine at general running.
Are you sure the engine is getting excessively hot? Is the performance effected?
If it was running too hot the power would fall off dramatically and the engine start to rattle badly.
It may seem to run hot but if it is still running normally dont worry everythings ok

How hot is the questions, its an air cooled engine (assuming CG125 copy) so it will feel much hotter than a liquid cooled engine. The heat is radiating off the barrel, not off the radiator.

If it getting really hot - the sort of heat where you can hear any instant gasket on the rocker cover bubbling and fizzing - then the only likely explanation is low oil flow. Causes are either a blocked strainer on the oil pickup, a knackered oil pump, or a blockage in a line. A clogged oil filter shouldn't cause it, they have a bypass valve (usually). Dirty oil is better than no oil.

If you rebuilt the knackered engine, then I would be checking the strainer for bits.

What is the spark plug like? This is a good indicator of whether the engine is running right. Did you fit a new plug?

Yeah i does really rattle like hell after it get warm the oil filter is clean and free from bits as the oil was changed at the 200 mile mark because of running in .

It has got new ht lead and spark plug with a blue spark. and there is plenty anough oil getting to the tappets so i quess it must just be the design of the engine.
