636's are great bikes, the A1P is the first iteration and a bike I have only just sold, that carried the older shape from the J series 600's giving it great comfort for long journeys, the 600 and 636 from 2001 and 2002 respectively were night and day different in power though, despite only being 36cc's different. I found the 636 a great, capable bike for a few years.
2003 saw the B1H model, taking a more focused stance, much more cramped and racey, not so great for bigger riders so for most general riding or commuting, the A1P was probably better
The G models came much before, similar to the J series but with a single headlight, different fairings and IMO ugly. Technology improves a little each year on most bikes and the Zx6R was no different, the G series was vastly inferior to the A1P.
The main thing I found was the jump in insurance premiums from both my J series bikes to the A1P 636, it nearly doubled for a lot of companies, in a garage it was not so bad though.
Get an A1P You'll love it ____________________ https://bikechatter.net

No idea on fuel economy TBH, I am 18st so I tended to wring its neck everywhere, that said I did a 1500 mile tour of france with pillion and full luggage, panniers, top box and tank bag too, and still managed to get 135 miles out of a tank without conking out, that was due to the fuel station being empty at my scheduled mileage. Until I got to the empty fuel station I was gunning it through the French countryside.
Green bikes go fastest too, out of the 5 kwacks I have had, 3 have been green and they were the best 3 ____________________ https://bikechatter.net
