I slightly damaged my rear brake pedal and front brake lever of my Suzuki GSF 650 Bandit '05 in a recent accident (drop). I have played around with them a bit (not being very mechanically minded).
I've noticed that the tail light is working fine but the brake light doesn't work when using either rear or front brake. Not sure if this occured after accident or after my tampering.
Is it likely to be bulb, sensor, wiring.....I would be grateful for any suggestions!
Thanks in advance!

First thing for me would be to short the switch on one of the levers and see if the light illuminates - if it doesn't, then change the bulb first and go from there.

Easiest check is to try another bulb. At a push Halfords sell them (but obviously more expensive than online order). If it turns out not the bulb no hassles, always worth having a spare.

Next check the switches. Quickest is to remove the slide on terminals, switch on bike electrics and just short terminals together. This should check wiring. Do it on both front and back brake switches. Obviously with a known good bulb.

Once wiring checked it's down to the micro switches.

Let us know how you get on.

if it doesn't come on with either the back or front brake you can rule out a
switch not working, unless you are extremely unlucky and both have gone
at the same time.. even with a drop its unlikely both will stop working. a bent
front lever shouldn't stop the switch working

first check would be to replace the bulb, looks to be a dual filament bulb, so
its likely just one of the filaments have blown.

easy simple 5 minute fix and will cost a quid.

Thanks for the advice huys, i think it will be sensible to get a new bulb (as you say no harm in having a spare anyway) and I will see how it goes from there. I will let you know how I get on!
