What are the chances of being offered a speed awareness course?

Been done for 42 in a 30

My own fault, etc.

letter on the back says 42 is JUST eligible for Speed Awareness...

Sad

Steve.

Just take your 3 point's and man up for fuck sake.

3 points dont make a shits worth of difference to you're insurance.

sweeping statement that one.

When I first got 3 points at 19, it put my insurance up by £200, roughly 20%.

Take the course if it's offered, it means you still have the other 12 points to play with if you need them! Thumbs Up

Get a better insurance company then, I got 3 points whilst still in my 2 year probation period told my insurance company and they said it didnt change a thing.

thought it was 39 in a 30 was the limit for that.

just fill it in and send it off. if you get another letter saying you're invited to a speed awareness course, thank your lucky stars and take it. if not. suck it up and live with the points.

*blind date mode*
the choice..... is yours

LOL wut. Ofcourse your insurance are going to raise your premium if you get points! It **supposedly** means your 'driving dangerously'.

Gonna post it tomorrow morning, (post office open til 1230) and see what happens. The thing on the back says 42mph is still within tolerance for speed awareness, so we'll see.

Fingers crossed.

Just be human and write a letter to include in the envelope asking actively to be included in a speed awareness course. Don't beg, just be honest, admit you mucked up and you think the opportunity to go on a course would do you much more good in the long run than points and a fine would, considering how you experience the initial shock of the incident regardless of outcome. Thought about that a lot when I got flashed at like 34 in a 30, also coasting down after an nsl, but luckily, no NIP yet! Been over a month.

Update: Sent the form back on Friday 25th May.

Still not heard anything back from them and their ticket office phone number isn't working and nobody from any other place I have called is able to give me another phone number for them...

Do I continue chasing my arse and trying to find out whether they've received the paperwork back, or just leave them to it??

Just starting to worry they'll send me a letter raping me for not sending the document back when I did!

EDIT: is it worth me sending a photocopy back, again, with a note in it saying I've sent it once but this is just incase? I didn't send it recorded, like an idiot.

Cheers,
Steve

Did you send it registered post or get proof of posting from the PO?

I intend to Dom, if offered it. A little worried by the lack of progress with this since I posted the form back on the 25th May, though.

Marki, 1st class stamp and put in a postbox... Sad

Still within the timeframe to send it back, however. So thinking of posting the double sided colour photocopy I've got of the form back to them recorded with a note inside.

Made no odds to my premiums at all. They generally don't care about three.

You also photocopied it, so if the DVLA make excuses why you haven't posted it, you also have the photocopy to prove.

The judge knows you wouldn't photocopy it for no reason....

It's not the DVLA I'm worried about, it's the Police. The Form in question is the one where they ask you to name the driver/rider.

Interpretations Act should see you good in the end, but don't expect them to believe that. To save yourself some hassle, you could just get a recorded receipt for sending them an empty envelope now, it'll serve the same purpose in the end.

Actually, you could have done that in the first place... Wink

I got flashed as well a couple of month back... After filling in the NIP and sensing it back, it took an email and about a month for the tickets office to get back to me.... The same when I was offered the speed awareness course.. took those guys at least 2 weeks to get in touch after I posted them the application.

Find the local tickets office's email address and send them an email, wait and hope for the best Wink

With regards to points, I've heard some discussion about changing the insurance companies' policy toward points earlier this year. Allegedly, each point on you licence will increase annual premiums by about £50. Took the course, didnt have to find out if they actually do that or not.
