I like them a bit more than the er5/gpz mainly because of the air cooling meaning they're a tad simpler. But saying that they are a bit lower on the hp output
They can shift though for what they are. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

Air cooled was part of the appeal for me, did the Bandit head gasket and thought it was nothing compared to Clio 1.6 I had worked on.
As for the performance, I rate comfort and competence over speed and acceleration (which I get from my other rides to an extent), getting on the GS reminds me of the Varadero I had and the feeling that I can just get on turn the key and go anywhere no hassle which is great. ____________________ Current: 02 FZS 1000 & 91 Royal Enfield Bullet 350 Some Bike Pics...

It's essentially a modern twist on a commuter. You use it to get you places safely, efficiently and reliably. When I think of commuting on motorcycle, I can't help but imagine the 50's/60's when many people used motorcycles as a cheap way to get to work because they couldn't afford a car. The out and out hardcore all weather rider, and true motorcyclist.
I think they're cool though, along with the rest of the 500 'commuters'. And If I didn't get a GPZ I'd have a GS purely for the air cooled simplicity.
They're a bike which you can use commuting but it is also one which you can use to thrash if so the inclination caught you. They are the middle road between something small and sometimes incapable like a 125 and something like a sports 600 or an older road thou or tourer.
Here here for the 500's. ____________________ CBT: 12/06/10, Theory: 22/09/10, Module 1: 09/11/10, Module 2: 19/01/11

I see where you're coming from with this. I miss my old GS. It was an 04 plate in black, so looked a little tidier. It really did feel like you could get on and just go, no worries, no fuss. The ninja on the other hand isn't quite the same, but obviously is much more fun in a number of other ways.
Makes me think a naked for my next bike is a good way to do ____________________ Current bike: ZX6R J1
