Yesterday I got a phone call from one of our biker 'group' as it were. My friend had come off his Ninja Sad

It was a 2 lane A road, a fairly busy one at that. My friend was in the right hand lane when an older lady came out of a side road ahead of him. She came up to speed in the left hand lane, my friend was behind her in the right hand lane.

What happened next was pure stupidity.

Noticing the old lady was acting a bit 'strange' (for want of a better word,) Richard (my friend) backed off even though he was in a different lane. The old lady in her Nissan Almera suddenly decided (god only knows what she was thinking) to do a U-turn from the left hand lane.

She completely cut across his lane. He didn't stand a chance.

He hit both brakes and swerved, ended up clipping the rear left corner of her car so he must have been really pulling it over. Anyhow, he comes off and slides down the road (just cuts and bruises, his leathers saved him anything more serious)

Ok. So lying in the road, traffic coming to a halt around him and completely dazed, Richard lifts his head up.

The woman has got out of the car and is screaming at him.

"It's not my fault! You caused this! I've got witnesses!" to which she points at a BMW driver who was behind Richard and is now out of his car. This was just classic, his reply:

"Too right I was a witness you silly b*tch, that was all your fault! You ok mate? Don't worry about that old biddy, just sue the cow..."

Queue bikers - A load of bikers have stopped for him (about 3?) and take Richard's bright green bashed up motor to a nearby garage. If you were one of these lads thank you so much. You were knights of the road, and I know he'd never have gone to hospital if his bike hadn't been moved first Wink (stubborn get!)

Anyhow, police arrive and now the woman is claiming whiplash, to which the police tell her where to go:
"No chance love, off a bike? It'll never get anywhere, plus you're at fault." She starts saying how it "can't be her fault" because, and get this, "she does it all the time officer!" And more screaming ensues, needless to say the police were not impressed.

Richard gets bundled off into an ambulance, gets checked up in hospital and is now sitting at home, with his new nickname on his wrist bandage - "Richie Roadkill" Wink All in all he was ok apart from being p*ssed off about his bike being damaged and a sprained clutch hand.

Bad thing is, the old lady is going to fight this all the way and he needs that bike for work. Hopefully her insurance will realise that she's got no case and give him a hire bike. Either way it's going to be a long time before this is resolved Sad

One last thing: Again, thanks to the guys who stopped for him and sorted his bike out. He was more worried about that than his various injuries Smile You guys rock, and I know i'll be stopping when I see someone by the road.

Chris

Hi

Ouch. Hope he gets well soon, and hope he gets it sorted. With the witnesses he should be OK, and with any luck the police will prosecute her which will make it very difficult for her to defend the claim.

All the best

Keith

UN FUCKIN BELIEVABLE! Evil or Very Mad

I honestly don't see this taking long to sort out. She may want to fight it all the way, but the insurance people obviously aren't as stupid. Hope your mates ok Thumbs Up

Bitch.

Glad your friend's home now and recovering.

So, he gets her address right, with the insurance details? Perhaps a visit should be paid to her vehicle and any future ones to 'disable' it in an amusing way to help protect the public Razz.
