I was heading out for first decent length run of the year (only bought bike 6 weeks ago).
I stopped at the garage at top of my street for petroleum and tyre pressure check.
Rear took a couple of PSI. Connected airline to front - nothing (no beep as expected). Can't stretch myself to read display on box, so reckon pressure must be correct. Gear back on and drive away. 2 metres later I realise front tyre is completely flat. Push it back to air machine and back inside the garage for another 20p.
Try again. Nothing. Can't get it to take any air. Reckon valve must be goosed.
Hmmm. Not a lot of options here. It's Sunday so local garages/tyre places are closed...
Phone RAC (I have cover). No joy. Garage is too close to home address. I tell them I can push the bike around the corner to get the 1/4 mile minimum distance. No can do. Not unless I pay another £87 to upgrade my cover...
Bummer!
Sit down and think.
Then Mark comes in on his RS125 (never met him before) and offers to go find me a valve key. (Nice bloke, new biking friend Smile )
So we remove valve and reinstall.
Another 20p in the machine.
It is now that I see the "PUSH THIS BUTTON IF YOUR TYRE IS COMPLETELY FLAT" button.
Yes it worked.
No idea why my tyre was flat as it was fine for the rest of the day and again a few days later.
Lessons learned:
1. ALWAYS read the instructions.
2. RAC are cocks. (I only bought cover for the specific reason of helping me if I had a puncture). Well, imagine the guy had came and showed me the button to press Embarassed Maybe they ain't so bad...
3. When checking tyres, use a garage more than 1/4 mile from home...

Well if you`re male then it`s the law that you must never read instructions until after you`ve used the item first

ie stereo`s, tellies, bikes, phones, ect ect, so why not the air-line as well Smile

Or you could buy a cheap foot pump and tyre gauge. Very Happy

Noooo.

Do it AT HOME. When your tyre is COLD Rolling Eyes

Clearly you managed to ride to the garage on a near flat tyre, so you should have been able to push/drive bike home if it was so close.
