Hi,

I've just bought a fenda extenda (dumb name, not my spelling!) for my Street Triple to try to protect my shiny arrow exhaust and not end up in the situation where I had to destroy four exhaust studs to get the old one off. I've also noticed that some of the powder coating on the engine is flaking away where some water and/or salt has got underneath it.

So, I received it, and it says you have to drill the mudguard! Obviously I'd rather not do this if I can help it. The thing comes with a sticky pad but clearly that isn't man enough for the job on its own.

Pyramid plastics have a youtube account that says you can use polyurethane mastic... Is that likely to damage my mudguard if I ever decide to remove the fenda extenda?

Anyone got any other ideas as to what I can use to stick it on? Would sticky velcro pads be man enough maybe? I'm thinking that the airflow over the front wheel might well cause quite a bit of buffeting on the mudguard...

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I'd use the mastic as advised. Give it a good clean up and follow the surface prep instructions. Velcro isn't going to be strong enoguh.

I used 5 minute epoxy to stick a carbon fibre one onto an ABS mudguard over a year ago.

I used TigerSeal on the SV, it was tested as far as possible and never budged.

Use with caution, it can be a sod to get off things like skin, clothes? Forget it.
