If I understand the new bike licence rules that come into play in January 2013 it's focusing on 125cc and then 400cc and then whatever above that.
So I was thinking will this will kill the market for sub-400cc and 33bhp and below stock machines. If so I'm wondering if a 250cc or so runaround is on the cards for me (probably 2nd hand though). I'm sure the wife won't mind another bike cluttering up the place

And in practice the new A2 test machines will be the last of the 500s plus the NC700S, G650GS or restricted (or "restricted ") 600s.

That's the way I see it playing out. Not immediately, but by 2015 anyone with a license that lets them ride a 25kW/33bhp machine will actually be licensed for (at a minimum) 35kW, i.e. a GS500 or ER5.
Some people will still want smaller commuter bikes, but nobody will be limited to them. Why Suzuki is introducing a new commuter 250 at the end of this year baffles me. ____________________ Biking is 1/20th as dangerous as horse riding.
