Been complaining in a few other threads of the bike being uncomfortable and unstable. I put it down to something being wrong with the bike however I have recently discovered it was rIder input causing issues, therefore I get to keep the bike. Thank fuck!

Was watching the tt and noticed the smoother more fluid riders keeping their elbows in. So I tried this and instantly my problems with arm lock disappeared, my speed increased due to much more confidence in cornering, and I found I wasn't anywhere near as tired afterwards. Must have been fighting against the bike without really realising. The bike just feels nice and agile, such a nice feeling.

Also learned today to not cut sharp corners and only start to lean into the turn later... Made a world of difference with exit speed and positioning. No longer being forced to the other side of the road. And almost totally gotten rid of chicken strips, like 3mm left

Happy days.

Yep! I think it was all linked. Locked arms made me have loads of feedback which made my grip even tighter which gave me more feedback etc... Simple adjustment made the world of difference.

I think that was my problem with the XJ600 I used to have, infact I felt that bad on it I got rid within a month of getting it.Yet with my Fazer I have that much confidence in the bike my arms naturally relax on it.
I no longer get pins and needles or numbness in my wrists and fingers.

You ride about on a 600 sports bike (your THIRD bike) and you've only just learned this?

I'm surprised you're still alive.

It also helps to keep your arms relaxed. You should be able to flap them like a chicken.

I found this especially useful believe it or not in strong sidewinds. The natural reaction is to tense up and become more rigid to fight the wind. This however means you're putting all the wrong input into the bike. Relax arms and the bike control is easier.

When I say forced to the other side of the road I mean of my side of the road. I was still turning quite comfortably and safetly. I'm just talking about further adjustments to what I was already doing which helped massively.

I already knew about the loose arms, but kept unconsciously reverting back to locked arms as my elbows were out rather than tucked. I knew the theory of the right way to do everything, but takes time for your mind and body to click.
