I got pulled today with my mrs riding on back on my Honda CBR 125 (Yes I know need a bigger bike). I was riding through town past basingstoke college of technology in the south (if anyone on here is around that way) . A police biker passes me then about 30 seconds later hes up my arse with his blues on and siren. We both get off the reason he stopped me was "alot of people around the college take there L plates off and carry pillions" he then just went on to say that he thought my pillion wasn't wearing proper gear that made him suspicious but when he got up close he realised she was.He checked my licence etc made a joke out of it then went on his way. Waste of time! Rolling Eyes
Mind you Im surprised I haven't been pulled over sooner since passing in feb this year as I do alot of pillion carrying. Laughing

Wait so,
He pulled you over, checked your details, and left?

What an absolute tool he is eh? How dare he not be aggressive with you? How very dare he!

Thumbs Down

Leave those nice cops alone, they're only out there to look out for us.
He thought something wasn't right, he went to check. He was wrong, he left.

Problem? No problem.

I'd be suspicious of anyone on a 125 with a pillion too tbh, especially in an area where there's been people doing exactly that!

Good eye on him for noticing Thumbs Up

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Thinking "somebody might have taken his L-plates off" because it's near a college isn't lawful grounds for doing a stop, it's an abuse of power.

So they should just let everyone pillion each other around without checking as long as they have gear on? Sounds good to me Laughing

The girl in question didn't look like she had proper gear on, he said that bit, sounds like reasonable grounds Wink

Yes. It's called freedom, freedom from a preventionist ban-culture stalinist state gone mad.

This ^ +1.

Not everybody on a 125 MUST be a L-plater.

I`ve ridden many 125`s over the years and I have a full license and I would be annoyed if they stopped me purely because I was on a 125.

With all the checks they can do, they know before they even stop you if something is amiss.
They just need to prove what big boys they are.

Good point, surely they could have just ran your plate and saw your entitlement, rather than donning the blues and making you look a criminal Thinking

Well i'm on the fence on this one now Razz

Fair point, well made.

In the eyes of the law "proper gear" is a helmet. Nothing more, so if he mistook her for not having a helmet on I would question if he has the eye sight/ aptitude to be a copper. Wink

Exactly what i was thinking. He clearly was giving you a bullshit excuse for wanting to stop you. You should have asked him to define proper gear.

And personally, i dont think it is acceptable for police to stop people on a hunch all the time. It might be legal but that dont make it right.

Youre riding a 125 so therefore you must be breaking the law? Do me a favour Mad
