GSX600F cam chain tensioner

Has anyone had any experience of these? I need to tighten the cam chain as it is rattling quite bad and I rekon it's the tensioner. Anyone know how I'd go about resetting it?

Yeah, it's supposed to be, but as with many "automatic" things, it needs a bit of "manual" attention when it sticks. I think the spring has simply stuck and it needs releasing so it can pull/push the chain tight again. Just wondereed if it was a simple procedure or if there were any hidden nasties!!

Not really played with them. They are normally a one way ratchet pushed by a spring. The springs do age.

One bodge you can do is to take off the rocker cover and push down on the to of the tensioner blade.

Personally I think the first thing I would try would be a new tensioner spring, or just a complete new unit.
