Has anyone had any experience of these? I need to tighten the cam chain as it is rattling quite bad and I rekon it's the tensioner. Anyone know how I'd go about resetting it? Question

Hi

Thought it was an automatic cam chain tensioner on the GSX600F.

All the best

Keith

Yeah, it's supposed to be, but as with many "automatic" things, it needs a bit of "manual" attention when it sticks. I think the spring has simply stuck and it needs releasing so it can pull/push the chain tight again. Just wondereed if it was a simple procedure or if there were any hidden nasties!!

Hi

Not really played with them. They are normally a one way ratchet pushed by a spring. The springs do age.

One bodge you can do is to take off the rocker cover and push down on the to of the tensioner blade.

Personally I think the first thing I would try would be a new tensioner spring, or just a complete new unit.

All the best

Keith
