Strange thing happened today. Riding my bike, end up with a police car driving infront of me. Keep my distance and ride perfectly, sticking to speed limits etc. Then, the police car indicates left and pulls up in a layby, i nervously ride past when i look in my mirror and the car pulls back out again and carries on driving.
Made me worry a bit but they never pulled me over, which is good because i dont even remember who my insurance is with (insured through a broker).
Were they just checking my details via reg plate? Did worry me about being checked for proof of restriction too

Some of the cars are fitted with a camera that reads your registration and flashes the screen red if you don't have anything in particular (tax, mot, insurance etc). So I guess almost instantly really

This, if it's a traffic car they all have ANPR and it takes less than a second to flash red on the screen and sound a warning to the officer that you need pulling.

Even if they have to radio it through it doesn't take long.

Bah. They've obviously realised how lucrative catching people out can be Sad I remember when you had to actually be stopped and asked for documents in order to get caught out and all that was required to 'explain' a tax disc nearly a decade old was a decent rack and some eyelash fluttering *sighs*.

Doing it all on computer without even getting out of the car is just cheating Sad

I should have pulled in behind them and stayed there until they pulled off. Or rode past with one hand leaning back and covering the reg plate, just to annoy lol.
But nah im taxed, tested and insured so its all good, it just made me a bit on edge thats all.

It gives them more time to concentrate on preparing their next condescending/patronising speech:

hehe! I always had the male-copper-condescending-to-a-girl stuff where they'd nudge the tyre with their foot then lean on the front end to 'test' the forks for some inexplicable reason in that 'i am male therefore i know about motorbikes even though i've never so much as sat on one' type way.

These charming interactions increased when i passed my test but was still kicking around on a little 100 due to being too skint to upgrade. In the end i put the L-plates back on Rolling Eyes

The one that stopped me with the ancient tax disc was really nice though and only pulled me over cos i was doing about 5mph in the gutter trying to get home after it had blown a piston Confused But he was on a bike himself and i doubt PC Lardy McSexist in a car would have been as nice Smile

I've heard stories of motorcycle police pulling over speeding bikers just to admire their bike and then send them on their way. In these days of targets and tax-via-the-back-door I doubt you'd get so lucky.

When I flutter my eyelashes at the police it rarely has the desired effect. Occasionally, yes, but not very often.

Me too Sad That one had no MOT either Embarassed It was an emergency purchase at a super-cheapo price when the RXS had got stolen again. . . .and the front end was from a different bike that had been butchered onto it. . . .and i was on a temporary contract at work so had been commuting on it for nearly a week waiting for payday Embarassed

If i did that now i'd most likely be typing this from prison with the screen name 'Stabby's Bitch' Sick

Obviously you need to show more cleavage. Riding wearing those arseless leather chaps will also help.

Very Happy

In my "vast experience" of watching police propaganda programs, it doesn't seem to take more than a few seconds.

That scenario is probably even worse cos if you flirt with them to try and get out of it they'll get all militant and accuse you of sexual harassment Mr. Green

Very true.
Even the realistic police soaps CSI etc. prove that all police have vastly superior thinking power and are enabled to thwart mostly any criminal intent on causing mischief.
With today's technology and the dedicated crime fighters on our streets I'm amazed that crime still pays better than dole money or Social Security hand-outs.

I got sat behind a police car yesterday on the ten which is a bit noisy, both of them in the car were looking like they were considering a pull over and tug manoeuvre which to me is just fucking cheeky. In any case something came up in front of them which they didnt observe correctly, I did and changed lanes before I hit the bottle neck.

As I pulled up to their rear quarter the indicators came on so I politely slowed and allowed them room to get out, then filtered past with a nice big thumbs up rather than blue lights. aaah justice.

If they were paying attention to the traffic and not my bike they would have seen it though and it goes to show that sometimes they are just looking for likely people to tug.

Bike got nicked this past April.. Guess how long it took them to complete their investigation?!?! 7DAYS!!! Stolen from hopton street London central, a couple thousand CCTV cameras and they never found the kunt that hotwired my R1, alarm sounding, lights flashing and rode it away.. May I add to my statement by saying Lazy, Scummy Pigs... And don't tell me you don't feel like you've got to check yourself every time you see an officer of the law.. I see em and feel a lot less safe TBH.
