Took out insurance on the Savage with Swinton as they came out as the best quote (wasn't the cheapest). Got a letter from them asking me to call to clarify some insurance details, so I called them - I'd put down on my application I had 6 years no claims, when the proof I sent through actually said 7. They asked if I'd like the record to be updated from 6 to 7, I said yes, to which I was told that there would be a £25 admin fee.

I asked if they were serious - a £25 fee to change a 6 to a 7, and he said yes, it's a "mid term adjustment". Fukkin banditz.

Needless to say, it still says 6.

i'm with them too, they kind of suck but they were the cheapest for me.

If the insurance hasn't started yet, its not a mid term adjustment is it.......!

But if its after then, never mind. I found out that anything over 5 years no claims, the insurance prices don't budge much, maybe pennies.

So, they ate the cost of sending out a letter, handling your call, getting the change all keyed up and ready to go, and then wanted to charge you £25 for hitting the enter key?

I'd wonder how these clowns stay in business, but I think the answer is that they're all as bad as each other.

Aye, that's why I told them to stick it. Annoyingly I've got about 20 years no claims on the car, but each year it bounces around as the only option on some applications is "over 9 years".

I had a similar thing, I didn't sign and send a form I got with my cover note back to them, which I got a £24 charge for, they take the £24 off monthly so my premium went up by £2 a month which they failed to notify me about.

As I only had enough for my insurance and I mean to the penny sat in my account, I defaulted on the payment and the DD got returned, which they then sent me a letter saying I had received another £24 charge.

I rang them and the chap was very helpful, he admitted they should have notified me and that if they had I wouldn't have defaulted on the payment, so he waved the 2nd charge, I got stuck with the first as it was my fault for not reading the 100 odd pages of crap they sent me, so I understand that.

they were good however and removed the charge straight away.

Mr bank manager also waved the £10 charge the bank charges for a returned DD as he knew it was the insurers fault for not informing me of the increase in my premium. so he gets some brownie points also.

So now my insurance is £33.33 rather than £30.89 a month. no real hardship.
