hi,

i have been having problems with the front brake caliper..
after a short ride the bike starts to slow when coming off the throttle the front wheel begins to lock up and the caliper starts to smokes, gets super hot and the lever goes limp like its not connected to anything, but after i stop and give it 5mins for things to cool down everything goes back to normal for a short while then same thing happens again.

iv taken caliper off had pads out released a stuck piston and generally cleaned the caliper and wd40-ed the pistons, pumped the pistons out and pushed them back home several times and everything turned out good for a while and now its back to locking up again after front brake use.

can anyone suggest anything? might be better of ebaying a second hand caliper, but if i can sort it relatively easily then im up for that.

thanx!!

WD40 may have made the Rubber seals swell, making the brakes stick, you lose pressure in the lever because the fluid gets hot it boils.

Buy new seals, replace them, use silicon or red rubber grease on your brake pistons, bleed through with a freshly opened bottle of dot 4 and all should be fine. Thumbs Up
