A few years back when I had the GSXR1000 I was lent a GSX1400 by the shop while mine was being serviced.
I am sure there are others on here which will love them, personally I didn't, I found it sluggish with vague steering, okay it's an upright naked bike so it's comfy in a straight line below 80mph, anything outside that and you'll be wishing for your sportsbike.
Get a sports tourer (with fairing) if you want comfort and not get too far from the sportsbike experience. ____________________ Current bike: KTM SD1290GT

My cousin had one.
It def suited his 26 stone frame.
I thought it felt like a Tank.
Next thing i new he'd sold it for a Harley ____________________ Chase my Witch up, Catch my Snitch up.

OK. Went to view the bike yesterday, the guy knows of me and was trusting / silly enough to hand me the keys and let me loose for the day. An old friend and adversory was along on his ZZR600 that I have done a 'little' work on.
First impressions were very favourable. It is high and wide, a 2 wheel 4x4. Engine very quiet and smooth. It does pull like a railway locomotive, nearest I've been to it is the Blackbird. But, whilst the 'Bird would let you whosh up to Autobahn speeds without knowing it, the suzy has you foursquare into the windrush. At circa 80 mph you can feel the pain in shoulders and neck. (it gets worse at 'higher' speeds). A flyscreen ight be able to mitigate things a bit but I was taking a battering.
Roads were damp but drying, so I didnt try anything too extreme on the nicely twisty backroad run, but it certainly got itself around with no real drama. Thought I was doing well until Pete shot underneath me and literally dissapeared. I coud have had a go, but, not my bike yet and I had no experience of it at a faster pace.
Given anything like a straight and I could just dial in effortless forward motion, come to sharpish bends and the weight and height made itself very evident.
We swapped bikes, Pete is used to nakeds and is smaller than me. Once again, the 'little' Kwak more than held its own on the backroads, (admittedly revving its little nuts off) and the Mway back was comfortably protected form wind and the occasional shower. Pete, however, was hooked, called at his home for the money set aside for the plasterer doing his kitchen, and bought it.
So. I now have two issues to deal with. Him on this monster and his irate missus who always blames me for leading him astray! ____________________ The CBR900RR has been sold. Aprilia Falco worms its way into my heart.
