 |
|
Who remembers that?
It was only a few days after my CBT when I was going to pick up my first bike. The excitement was unmeasurable.
I don't think I'll ever have a moment like that again, turning the engine on for the first time, building its revs and slowly pulling away to enjoy my first ride on it.
Sorry guys, just reminiscing about when I had a bike....... need a new one. ____________________ One dream, one soul, one prize, one goal. |

It's pretty immense.
Fortunately I got to experience it three times as the jump from 125 -> 500 twin -> 600 I4 Sport, felt like a different experience each time  ____________________ '89 Honda NS125F (SOLD) -> '92 Suzuki GS500E (SOLD) -> '03 Kawasaki ZX6R B1H (SOLD) -> '96 VFR 750 RC36 (SOLD) -> '02 Honda CBR1100XX Blackbird |

Good point. Looks like I'll DEFINITELY be getting my license at some point then so I can experience something near to that again. ____________________ One dream, one soul, one prize, one goal. |

1st Bike - Suzuki GZ125 Marauder
then
1st Big Bike - Honda CBR600F3
I've done about 1000 miles in the last 2 weeks Still scares me just how quick it is.
It goes quicker in 1st gear than my GZ would in 5th, then I have another 5 gears to go ____________________ Current Bikes: ZX7r 97 (Black Beauty), VFR400 NC24 (The banana)

I remember the first 125 > GS500 at the school, got to a national speed bit and pinned it a bit, actually enjoyed that, it felt fast but not too silly.
When I done the same on my 600F I damn near shit a brick. The '03 RR done a similar thing, basically because the gearing was taller - ~75mph in 1st and it had FI compared to carbs, so everything was very immediate, the throttle done exactly what I asked when I asked, it all seemed very sharp.
Riding a fireblade - 1000cc RR5 done a similar thing, but it was different, I thought, this revs round slow but it feels quick, I wonder how fast ahhh, better slow down. That was just like riding on a fat dollop of torque with a mental top end rush. The 1250 is the same with a bit more torque and a lot less top end, which suits what I use it for.
I don't think much tops your first ever go at the helm of a fast bike though. That 125 > 600F transition was awesome. ____________________ Current Bikes: Honda CBR 600RR - '07, Suzuki GSX1250 FA ST '11

I remember my CBT, bought a brand new Honda XR125 and was allowed to use it to complete my CBT on. Was bricking it first thing that morning as had never rode a bike before, by the end of the day I just couldnt stop smiling.
The feel of a brand new bike just cannot be matched |

The first ride of my CG125 was stressful. I'd left the choke on so it kept cutting out and I still was a noob when it came to the controls. Loved the bike, but my first ride was a 'mare that I'd rather forget.
The first ride of the CB500 was wicked though. Always remember giving it a little gas for the first time and it seemed to shoot off like a rocketship. Doesn't quite feel that fast now though. ____________________ 1998 CG125 (Sold) CB500 [+ Clio 172]

My first bike was one of these:

No CBT back then, so getting on and riding it away for the first time was a little hairy
Lots of fun though, and 45 no problem if you were flat on the tank! ____________________ stinkwheel: He had an animated .gif of a cat performing fellatio. It's not socially acceptable. It can have real life adverse effects on other people. |

It was amazing going from my dt 125 to fazer 600, then it was amazing going from that to the r6.
Similar feeling was when I went from downhill mtb to getting a beta 270 trials bike. Riding up steep hills never gets old after having to push my bike up hills just to go down them for so many years |

Went from a cb250rs that i thought at the time had fairly good aceleration to an old gpz750r, no wonder that thing got the nickname deathtrap, it was a brutal change in acceleration, handling and riding style from the old 250.
Cheers

Personally I love the feeling of owning a new bike but hate the first few weeks riding it; you have to get used to the seating position, how fast it will accelerate the stopping power it has etc . Ok I've only ridden three bikes for long term more than a mile (5 if you include under a mile) and none of them have been over 125cc, still hate the feeling. ____________________ CB125>CG125>GN125>ER5>K100RS>R1100RS>K100RS

It was my second time on a bike when I picked mine up brand new. I'd paid it in full before I'd even done my CBT, and had insurance ready for it too.
I was so nervous but tremendously excited to be on the road, it is a feeling Ill never forget. I'm glad to see theres not just me that has had these feelings. ____________________ One dream, one soul, one prize, one goal. |

i still remember picking up my first bike, passed my CBT in July 2007 but couldn't afford a bike until found my cg in may 2008. Took me about 20 attempts to actually pull away from the guys house as clutch control had disappeared but i made it home and trusty cg back in use |
