Have North Yorks police fixed speed camera(s) now? :SORTED:

Unsure of the correct section but just wanted to ask if anyone was aware of a change in policy?

North Yorkshire police were one of the few areas not to have fixed speed cameras (I think Northumbria was the only other). They do have camera vans and coppers with speed guns (car and bike police).

Now last night someone told me that there was a speed camera being installed on the A64. This would be westbound from the A19 junction towards the next York junction (either the Askham Bar/York College or the North York-Askham Bryan/Rufforth junction).

Apparently a sign saying camera not in use on it.

I haven't been up that way to confirm and just wondered if anyone else had any info to confirm or deny, I've tried google for policy and location but no meaningful results.

Likely for roadworks, some places stick up camera poles and signs but no cameras, theres one down here where paddy binned his bike a while back, top of jubile way, they installed the camera pole but never put a camera up, been that way for a good 2 years now.

They can only install fixed speed cameras within a certain distance of somewhere where a fatality has happened. It may be for roadworks but there was a serious accident here a couple of weeks ago where the A64 was shut nearly all day, dunno, may be there permanently.
