i know, i know - it's July... too early to talk about xmas etc!! so if talking about christmas in july offends you, then this thread probably isn't for you....

Last year I didn't organise our christmas staff night out until mid November, and all we ended up doing was a Pub crawl round Leeds city centre followed by a (very expensive) trip to Silks. I have aprox 50 members of staff coming - nearly all of which are security guards (so blokes) and wanting to do somthing a bit different this year. It's been suggested that we just Hire a room in a restaurant somewhere with a buffet and a free bar for a couple of hours, but i think that's a bit too unimaginative!!

thought about booking a comedian or some sort of entertainment??

Any ideas?? Karma

Imaginative....

Book some time at Manchester Airkix? £30 will buy 3 minutes of tunnel time each and with 50 people you can negotiate downwards.

You'll watch each other bounce off the walls like a washing machine (EVERYBODY bounces off the walls first time) and get a DVD to laugh at each other.

Then go to trafford centre for a few beers and such.

If in Leeds some hospitality package at Leeds Carnegie?

Not really night out though. Probably best avoid the likes of the New Penny bar (or not as the case may be) Very Happy

Years ago I worked for a company that had its chrimbo do in Warwick Castle, as a medieval banquet, complete with jugs of mead, wenches, jesters, wooden plates and rip the food apart with your hands style dining. Any (proper) castles near you that offer the same kind of do?

From the other side, catering for large functions is usually fairly dull.
However working a fun function like that, or doing something different is usually more fun and challenging and you'll find FOH and Kitchen staff will both be more inclined to try harder for you.

Just a side note.

Last Christmas do we went to a proper Mexican place then booked a vip table at an upmarket bar. Fajitas and Margaritas Followed by lots of drinking until stupid AM. Working in catering we normally 'party' harder than most though I guess. (That sounds stupid but if you've done it you know what I mean)

I'd definitely reccomend a comedian. Showcase live (yes the cinemas) events are pretty good if there are any near you.

https://www.franksidebottom.co.uk/ is always good for an 'intimate' function and comes from Mancs so should be near enough.

You may also want to consider an Elvis impersonator. Sounds corny but can be hilarious!!!
