Anyone out there benefiting from the latest round of Football fever?

Can't stand the game myself, but popped down my local climbing wall this week and they're offering cheap climbing whenever England play a match -major bonus! (Not sure how this promo works cos I've yet to meet a fellow climber who follows the footie)

Hard to comprehend someone not wanting to watch their national team in a major tournament - I hate my local pub but when a match is on, its a fucking awesome pace to be.

I hate rugby with a passion but the missus drags me out to watch england when they are playing - atmosphere is brilliant.

I love big tournaments, flags on cars, racing home from work to watch matches no matter who is playing and squeezing in a half time wank.

Not seen much support where I live. I'm the only one flying an England flag.

hein gericke are doing 25% off due to the euros

https://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/news/index/show/news/286_euro_2012_special/

from memory in the past the roads are quieter when big games are on, so good time to go for a ride

TBH I didn't even know the football was on, I've been on a sports media blackout to avoid the Olympics bullshit.

There really is nothing I care about less than football, or the Olympics for that matter.

During an England world cup game I was on top of Clee Hill in Shropshire at kick off and was home in East Birmingham to see the start of the second half. Very Happy

I also love big tournaments, so I can time my trips to the supermarket to coincide with big games.

I hate shopping, so anything that keeps the crowds down and reduces the amount of time I have to spend parking and queueing, gets my vote.

Times have changed though, when I was a kid, cup final day saw the streets deserted, but not now.

I don't get that.

Presumably it's the same scum, only more of them and with more shouting and faux emotion. Or do you find it's the only time the locals are sociable with you?

What I find is it's the same half dozen who are at the front being most vocal, turning round as they shout and scream to see if their testosterone display is impressing the local slags who are drawn to this primitive wankfest.

It's all bollocks because they wouldn't cart off like that if they were watching it in the house.

I won't be watching a single pointless game.

glad to see that I'm not in the minority for once. As for Ariel Badger I'm trying to work out if you like football or just get off on national events (there must be a site for that in this day and age Laughing )

I find it hard to comprehend how 11 massively overpaid wankers kicking a ball around a field for 90 minutes in any way represents our country.

Many folks do enjoy watching it, so fair enough, but to honestly think everyone should watch it just because "it's your country playing, innit" is somewhat naive and insulting.

Work is pretty quiet at the moment with the football on so I get paid to sit and read a book. Go figure!

My wifes Irish and I have 3 boys so we support England and Ireland. Myself I am not really a football fan, but this last year I got free tickets 5 times for the local club, ohh and we've been to Wembley as well.

My favourite Sunday haunt served good food, good drink, huge mugs of coffee and had shelves of books and settees dotted about. Also had a no kids policy, the place was an oasis.

Then they put a big screen in, and the loudmouth drunken fucks crawled out from under their rocks, joined by pram faced estate dwellers and their larvae.

The place burned down a couple of months ago. I was most pleased.

So you watch England in the Field Hockey World Cup, or the Cricket World Cup etc?

Field hockey no - but cricket of course. I'm a general sports fan and like watching a number of sports, both my chosen teams and England.

The sad thing is that it seems to be 'real' emotion - becauase for so many people this sort of thing really matters - much more than so many things that can much more change their lives.
