Took my girlfriend for a ride for the first time today...

Anyways, i've had my licence half a year or so any she is/was "nervous" it took weeks to get her to sit on the bike and till now to go anywhere on it, we only went a mile or two but she was happy with it straight away still will take some getting used to for her but will be takeing it a bit at a time...

Thing is neither of us drive and it was completely ludicrous that there was my bike ready to take us ANYWHERE ANY TIME!

Hopefully she can now join me and mates when we go for days out on the bike, hurrah!

Anyone else have partners who would rather sleep in a bed full of crabs on speed than get on a bike?

Nope, don't have that problem at all. M couldn't wait for me to pass my test so she could ride pillion, after a couple of months of that she needed to pass the test herself. Then she had the cheek to steal my NC30 from me and forced me to buy a bigger bike .
I guess some people just love bikes/biking whereas others are either scared or just don't see the attraction.

MrsH wasn't overly happy about bikes when I started riding again and it took a few months for her to get the confidence to ride pillion. However once she had, she was hooked! Now we are a 3 bike and no car family

Well being your average cake made of fruit i suspect when i get my license that i will have a few like minded worthy ladies wanting to saddle up close to me. I had a few offers on my DNA but well... Im not gonna do it unless they havea full license of their own.
(Its legal to carry a pillion on your provisional if they have a full license. Strange but true)

Eh... AFAIK you can't carry a pillion unless YOU hold a license.

Doesn't matter if a pillion has a license or not - what the hell difference would that make anyway? Not like they would have any control of the bike - sorry but I think you're wrong mate.

Has anyone else found that once they've taken a lady passenger that lady dosen't seem too keen on letting other ladies have a go, and becomes a bit protective over who you take on you bike, or is it just me.

I don't know how she would be on another bike tho...R6 and such, she likes the grab handles on the ninja.

Shes not bothered by speed or anything, i've done 130mph with her on the back, with no complaints.

But she wont let me wheelie with her on the back....she hates them

James doesn't like riding pillion with me.... I wonder why? Maybe because he's about 2' above my head and gets all the wind buffetting, or maybe it's a male "control" thing


Either way, I can't wait until his bike is back on the road to get him off my back/out of my passenger seat (where he enjoys poking me with my baton).

Girls are alot easier to take than blokes as they don't mind sitting realy close and holding on. The blokes i take try and sit on the rack and not hold onto anything and cause no end of problems.

My ex loved it and got really used to it and used to close her eyes and relax

Its a male control thing the Hippy is the same with me - same in a car but it doesn't matter if the driver / rider is male or female he just prefers to be in control of the vehicle.

I find that the biggest mistake of a biking lads life is often taking the girlfriend out on the bike and giving her a bit of a hairy ride for a laugh.

How they ever expect her to get near a bike ever again is beyond me. And of course when they get married she doesn't want him riding that dangerous thing and when the kids come along it becomes the first useless expense.

yeh but some girls would be offended if you took it too slow... altho i have to admit i feel somewhat cynical when a girl says shes ok on bikes and dont worry about cornering fast... we will see.
