I am still grinning like a loon about the CBT I did the other day and now I cant wait for the weekend. 2 dreams have come true. Mainly because (1) im off to see the stone roses and I can't wait for that and (2) I pick up my first bike, a 1988 TZR 125. Got it quite cheap, wanted one since 1 was a kid and its not far away so nice practise ride home. Had a bit of a crap time lately but now I am one very happy guy. Since posting on here I've gonna from shud I/Shudn't I learn to ride, to actually getting off my ass, getting the cbt done, booking a theory and now buying a TZR! Thanks guys I doubt I would have attempted it without this forum. So I really appreciate everyone who takes the time post on here. I think my neighbours are gonna hate you tho! Very Happy

A 16 y/o lad near me did his CBT a month ago, he's still grinning ear to ear each morning as he buzzes past on his 'ped. ( proper jacket/gloves, NOT riding like a chav).

So you're probably stuck with the grin forever.

I've been riding for a year or more now, and passed my test, got myself a '98 GS500E...

Every time I step back into view of my bike, be it in the morning, after stepping out of the local shop... Whatever; I still grin like a bond villain.

I'm afraid it's terminal.

I don't care, I'm not Tut Tut-ing, but please be clear that your provisional license doesn't cover you riding a full power TZR. The chances of you getting caught are minimal, but in terms of legality, you'd be as well riding a 'busa.

Anyway, enjoy it, it's a big Middle Finger Middle Finger to the idea of driving as just a way of getting from A to B. Very Happy

Thanks for the replies. How would i be able to tell if its full power is there tell tale signs, the guy said that the manual power valve was closed so im hoping this makes it learner legal ? any tips appreciated.
I cant wait to pick it up though. I have always had a thing about TZR's and to find one so close and just 2 days after my CBT it was too good a deal to miss. Stone roses will make this weekend amazing and I got a feeling the TZR will teach me alot and make sure i have fun doing it. Cheers guys

That would yeah. If you look on the left side of the cylinder (draw an imaginary line continuing the exhaust in your head) it'll either have a blank plate (circular) with a bolt in the middle or a box with wires coming out. From what you've said he said, I'd expect the former. Without the box with wires, you won't get 'full power' ever.
However, depending on the setting of the valve you may get more than you should Wink If it gets to 90-100mph (on the speedo Wink) the valve is open and not legal. It'll also pull relatively poorly at low revs. If it pulls fine at low revs and won't get to an indicated 90mph odds are you're fine.
The only way to really be sure is to take the blank plate off and the exhaust. Look inside the exhaust port and rotate the cylinder you've exposed under the blank. It's essentially a cylinder with half of it cut away. If the cut away is 'down' it won't block the exhaust port and therefore is open. If the non cut away is down then you'll see it partially blocking the port (closed).

That's probably a bit confusing. If so ask Very Happy Given that you asked this question though, I'd suggest you get a Haynes ASAP. You will need it Wink

I know what you mean about the grin!

I got my ZZR6 over a month ago now but it still feels like yesterday when I picked it up. Putting my helmet on in the lift before getting to the garage still makes me acquire a chubby.

Love it!
