Considering trading in my Z750 for a lovely yellow Triumph Speed Four I've seen locally, good or bad move guys?

I do like the look of them, and would love to step up to the street triple in the future, just can't decide if it's a better bike than a Z750?!

The Z750 has got some of the worst budget crappy suspension in the history of Kawasaki according to lots of reviews I've read.

The Street is supposed to be sublime handling. They've got similar power, but the Street is a lot lighter. The Street is a great bike. Really great, although personally I'd pay a little more for the R model (I did!).

Sorry I think u missed my point, what I'm thinking of doing is going from a Z750 to a Speed four, then maybe one day onto a Street triple, I know the triple is an amazing bike but what I am asking about is theSpeed Four

Speed Fours are great, the handling and brakes should be a big step up for the Z, however the brakes do require bleeding often.

Much sportier riding position too, clip ons and highier pegs. Thumbs Up

The Speed Four is good, but there is less of an advantage over a Z750 IMO.

They are bargainous value at the moment, but you've already got the Z which isn't all that different...

If it were me, then I probably wouldn't bother changing the Z750 for a Speed Four.

Keep the pennies aside for when you eventually want to get a Tripple. Thumbs Up

Can't afford the cost (they hold value so well) or the increase in insurance premium tbh. Where as the four I could...

I doubt it very much Laughing similar in Power (Z has abit more) but a fair chunk heavier and much worse running gear.

They seem to hold there values in dealers eyes and are up for £3k+ often!

Just thought I'd post a follow up to this, I took the Speed Four out for a blast,

Nice bike, love the look of it, nice riding position and better balance into the corners than my Z for sure. You don't have to tip it as much to get it into the corners. However the bike as a whole didn't feel as sharp as my Z, the brakes where non existent, don't know if they just needed bleeding but I'd go as far as saying they where awful compared to my Z. Only other thing I could fault was the digital speedo seem to have a mind of its own, perhaps needed replacing.

The dealer was asking 3 grand for it, to change would cost me 1k, now even I know I'd be an absolute numpty to do that, so the Z stays, the Speed four is a nice bike but I can't help think the technology is of inferior quality.

On Saturday I'm taking out a Street Triple, now this the sales rep said would change my mind!!

3k is too much for a Speed four with knackered brakes.

My Speed Four had excellent brakes, I could stand the bike on its nose pretty easily.

+1 I paid £3k for my four when it was 6 months old and had 3k on the clock.

The Brakes need bleeding, it is one of the issues with them they do need bleeding every few months. Sometimes the magnet goes in the wheel speedo sensor too maybe that was the issue.

Indeed you where right mate, Very Happy it's a shame as its a great looking bike, and I would expect a well looked after bike at the right price would have tested me, but this was neither @ 3k.

Onto the Street on Saturday, it's a 6.5k bike so I'd imagine there's gonna be a world of difference!!

I haven't asked yet because I see Triples holding there money so well I'm thinking:

* is there much point buying second hand when they hold so well..

And * I think I would really like the "R" version tbh, bells and whistles u know.

What years is the early triple? And when did the R come out.. Il find out for you then as my insurer are always pretty good. They wanted 100 quid more a year for the Speed Four against my Z

He means a Speed triple.

The Street Triple R came out in 2008.

Yea as Marj says, I'm talking about early Triples from around 1999.

You can still find them in absolutely mint condition for around 2.5k. Seeing as it's an older bike it could work out cheaper to insure and will feel gruntier than your Zed.

Looking at 300 quid to insure a Speed Triple around the year 2000, that's really not that bad a deal considering its what a 1000cc engine?! How much different would the Speed Triple be considering its age of 5 years older than my Z??!!

Worth looking into I reckon as I could sell the Z privately!!
