Yep. Legit indeed. There's so many scammers out there, cunts use every opportunity to rip you off.
Can you contact them back to set up a meeting with that "agent" with the location being a police station? Laughing

Note to Nigerian Scammers : Find a Fluent English-Speaking Person and ask them to right a realistic "I'm interested in your bike" letter, plus a couple of other possible responses. Get a crib sheet and go from there, you'll have much more luck.

But obviously not this person, because they clearly have a loose grasp
of the English language, if they can confuse 'right' and 'write'

I wasn't volunteering my services Laughing

I'm generally very good with my grammar and certainly know the difference between right and write. Alas, we all slip up at one time or another.

I had a fun one today.

Quote:
Attention Beneficiary,

Records show that you are among one of the individuals and organizations who are yet to receive their overdue payment from overseas which includes those of Lottery/Gambling,Contract and Inheritance.

It rambles on for a bit, and then:

Quote:
As a result of this, we hereby advise you to stop communication with any one not referred to you by us. We have negotiated with the Federal Ministry of Finance that your payment totaling $5,900,000.00(Five Million Nine Hundred Thousand Dollars). will be released to you via a custom pin based ATM card with a maximum withdrawal limit of $15,000 a day which is powered by Visa Card and can be used anywhere in the world where you see a Visa Card Logo on the Automatic Teller Machine (ATM).

Hang on, so I can't go out and buy a flash car, I need to save up daily?

Sod that then.

Quote:
Note: Disregard any email you get from any impostors or offices claiming to be in possession of your ATM card, you are hereby advice only to be in contact with Lord Ruben of the ATM card center who is the rightful person to deal with in regards to your payment and forward any emails you get from impostors to this office so we could act upon it immediately. Help stop cyber crime.

Call me ignorant but what's to stop you (and I'm talking in general here not particuarly for this incident) accepting the paypal money, and then letting the funds clear and surely there's no way for them to get the money back? Is paypal not safe like that anymore? Or is something going completely over my head? Probably Laughing

Because they will use a stolen account, which the police will re-claim (along with the money they pay you.) Or they raise a complaint through PayPal and get their money back?

It's easier than that, they just claim they didn't receive the goods and PayPal freeze your account, pay them the money back and then withdraw the amount from any of your secondary sources. They then sell your bike.
The trick is to be far enough away that when the appeals have all been dealt with (6 months to a year if you're lucky) PayPal can't find you to get the money that the seller is rightfully due. Which is why so many people now say they won't deal with people on eBay with less than xx feedback, and they now subsequently do dozens of tiny purchases (with their accomplices) to get feedback before pulling the scam.

Of course it could be the old fake account stuff but people were getting wise to that, so they do tend to be going for actually BUYING the item, then claiming their money back through eBays stupid buyer protection policies.

every time i see some thing like this . the aids and one pound a month advert campaigns have less of an effect on me .

that tv show was on today about the airport security and immigration officers they were hauling out packet after packet of forged cheques ,drafts , cashier ones and all sorts that amounted to over 1 million euros all being sent to an address in the uk from africa .
they said its a regular thing for them and find themselves having to go through them every other day .
its a good job there thick as shit or they might just get away with it more often .
one of the cheques was made out for 10 million u.s dollars lol and to authenticate its legitamecy they had sent along with it a badly printed t shirt as a supposed gift that said on it something like "CRUDE OIL corporation lol there was also a large consignment of fake africans passports over 200 passports in 1 small shipment
. i cant really imagine a stupid african ,nigerian ,somalian scammer on anything other than a blue and white c90 crashing into a old lady and riding off after having pillaged her handbag . lets hope they catch aids
