Oh aye, he crashed into you, but YOU have to research ebay, get prices, take it to the garage etc... no... go through the insurance, let them take care of it, get a rental bike from them to ride about on until its sorted. I would be fuming.

Agree with this. I done the nice thing when some fuckwit hit the cage. Searched for cheaper parts, cheaper bodyshops, better quotes for him. In the end I got the job done cheaper to help him out, and ended up with a shit job.

Insurance would be safest bet for you. Fuck him, it's his fault. Why should you have to spend your time trying to fix it?

1/10... Must try harder. Fire brigade for a car parked next to a bike that had gently been placed on its side?

Get his insurance to pay for it. Sack waiting for him to get paid and give you the money's along with researching prices and hoping your bike is safe in the hands of "that garage" he goes to....

Insurance, it's what it's there for.

Thumbs Up Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

At least the car is showing as insured on the MID

I'd say if you can work out a price that you're happy with then give them a chance to pay it, that price should include the cost of parts required plus a good few quid extra for your time and to cover unforseen things. If they're willing to pay that in cash within a couple of days then fine.

If it was a young driver, poor dad might be paying the insurance, which probably cost £1,500+, and he can imagine it doubling if there's a fault accident/loss of NCB, so he might well cough up?

If they won't pay cash and quickly then go through insurance Thumbs Up

Go through the insurance mate. For all you know that garage he'll send you to will use some shite parts, or just be dodgy in general. Besides, you'll be essentially working for him by searching for spares and stuff. He hit it, make the fucker pay Smile

I bet the only part of the frame that might be bent from that is the footrest hanger - same as my bike. If you price up new parts for all the scratched bits it'll come to about a grand, especially if the tank is damaged. Was the bike pristine or a bit war-worn? Ifit was in perfect nick then I'd suggest you go through the insurance and get new parts fitted. If it was a bit moth-eaten anyway just replace the damaged parts that you need to make it half respectable at his expense and come to an arrangement regarding the cosmetic damage. Either way, make your mind up quick and stick to it.

Careful, I got a spam rating for suggesting the same!

Would one of the mods mind revoking that unfair rating?

I agree though, difficult to see from the image but there doesn't appear to be a mark on the road, nor is there any damage to the left indicator. In fact the only damage I see appears to be old and repaired with gaffa tape!

No you didn't suggest that. You suggested he was a troll.

What do you do?

You pick your bike up.
Wipe it down.
Apologise to the car owner for putting it under his vehicle.
Pay him any monies owed for scratching his bumper.
And pretend like you never posted this thread.

Simple.

Poor obs there!
The left rear indicator is laying on the pavement, about 2 ft to the right of the bike.

That's exactly what I suggested:

I called him a troll because I think he's made the story up and is then on the forums with a faked picture trying to get a reaction, which is an almost perfect example of trolling.

I can accept your 'redundant' rating, I think it's harsh and quite disappointing you can't reply rather than resulting to karma bashing for a joke that also makes a valid point. But hey if you feel it's redundant and that's how you want to respond then go for it... I was miffed at haha's 'spam' rating as it's blatantly not spam, but I guess he's done that purely to hide early negative responses to his post...

Ooh, I meant the front left but I do see what you're talking about appears to be the rear left. Nicely preserved though - doesn't look like it's been damaged. Inconclusive but certainly adds weight to his story.

I want to see pics of the fire brigade and the left side damage before I'm convinced though...
