Love the cat to death, but think a little bit of extra spice would seriously improve our relationship. The old girls completely unfettled at the moment so what, if any changes should I make?

Probably best off keeping it as is tbh, if you truly can't resist:

Endcan for some noise
Braided lines for nice lever feel
Decent brake pads
Double bubble screen for motorway work
Decent tyres

Have the suspension refreshed and set up by somebody competent
Have any overdue servicing done (specifically thinking of valve clearances)

Many of them aren't mods as such, but if the bike is lacking in those areas then getting them sorted will transform it.

It stops perfectly well now so I'll leave the brakes alone.

Might have a browse at end cans though.....

Add carb balancing to DonnyBrago's list and that's about it, maybe get the jetting looked at if you go for a race can.

If 'cats come with rubber brake hoses then you wont notice how spongy they are. New braided lines/fluid and a clean of the caliper pistons is what I did to the old sv and the difference was dramatic, it already had HH rated pads with plenty of meat left so I didn't replace those...

Maybe some Spazzo* levers?

* Chinese Pazzo rip-off's, some are shiny and bright, other's are really not bad, I had some from "mlabel.parts" and they still looked new after 10K miles of use.

The quickest way to a bit more pizzazz is to lower the gearing; there are not a lot of power mods available for the Cat that won't mean significant tinkering.

I would get the suspension looked at and set up for you and get some braided lines.

You can get a double bubble for ~30quid if you keep your eye out on ebay. I got mine for £25

Braided brake lines should definitely be on your to-do list.

I'm not a fan of the grips/ends so I got rid of those too.

Also the "aero super sport" decals - Taking them off reduced the 90s tack look tenfold

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

I got upgraded brakes, double bubble, Scorpion end can and mini rear indicators. And a top box bracket. All that made it pretty much a universal bike.

If I lose another 40 pounds and put super unleaded it will feel like runnin a turbo-charged Bandit 1200S Rolling Eyes ... on NITRO Smile

I'm staring at mine everyday thinking it could do with something extra.. I can't fault it though.

Stops on a penny, corners amazingly well considering its terrible rider, enough revs to keep me happy, sounds nice, but then again I have a CBR600 can on there...a stock one Laughing

Its annoying as I can't fault it Neutral

Think he considers himself (actually he doesn't) a terrible rider; not the bike.

First things first is suspension, get it refreshed and set up properly for you, will make a world of difference to your ride.

Braided line make a MASSIVE difference on a cat, even if you dont think you need them, do it. Stopping faster means going quicker...

A good service and carb sync will not only make her more responsive, but will also see more mileage per tank - well worth doing.

As for performance mods, apart from a race can- save your money.

I have a piperx filter here you can have cheap if you really want to go down that route, but in all honesty it isnt worth the hassle. Yes i have a bit more go up to about 110- but after that the extra airflow makes it suffer. Getting her properly jetted is about £250-350 for a very small gain over what she has currently, not worth it imo.

-1 front +2 rear on the sprockets makes her a bit more peppy without sacrificing too much top end.

get the suspension setup for your riding style - so many people forget this is the best bang for buck mod you can make

i think it's something like 19/20 bikers leave their suspension settings as they were when they got the bike
