Passed test, got big bike.

£600, happy days. Rebuilt the front caliper,rode around on it as a courier hack for a few weeks, then did this;
https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o574/_Iain_/ad806a3b.jpg
Road rash to knee, back, all my leathers cut up and a smashernated bike. Walked around very strangely for a while.
https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o574/_Iain_/47717ec9.jpg
Bent fork, broken mudguard mount, smashed engine casing, electrics dead, indicators and headlight broken.
Thus leaving me back on the faithful YBR. Which decided to throw a sprocket up the road after snapping a tooth off this afternoon. Came to the conclusion i'd saved up enough dollar to fix one or the other, so im going to try and turn this around within a few days.
Half hour after getting the bike home;

and an hour after that;

Fuzzy photo on that last one, no idea why.
Engines going to be out tomorrow morning, then i'll get on with removing the fucking brush on hammerite paintjob that the previous owner did on the frame & swingarm. However i need to find my persuading bar, as said previous owner has painted over all the bloody bolts. Engine mounts are all stuck solid too. Currrently satin blacking all the silly bits at the moment cause its too dark/cold outside to do anything. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Gsxr 750 slingshot wheels are supposed to be a straight fit. Need to swap the wheel bearings over...
Oh and get a wheel with the 5 peg cush drive, like a dipshit i've got one with 6. Looking at it a bandit 600 wheel is going to be the cheapest option with the right cush drives/width etc. again bearings need to be swapped and a bit of grinding done on the caliper bracket, other than that s'all good. Then you can run a 150 tyre with no issues, or a 160 if you get someone to bend the torque rod for the rear caliper a little to gain the clearance on the tyre. Anything over 160 isnt doable unless you fuck about realigning the chain/sprockets, and thats more of a headache than its worth imo. With that said theres always one;

Need to ebay myself another wheel now. In other news my bars arrived...so got em drilled up & fitted all the controls. Hoping my headlight, forks & mudguard arrive tomorrow. Pic of bars later as cant be arsed trying to make photobucket work from iFail
Boosh;

So to update, following the failiure of fitting the 750 gsxr wheel to the bike i picked up a bandit 600 wheel with the correct 5 peg cush drive....
https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o574/_Iain_/dabaffe3.jpg
Threw this shit in the bin;
https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o574/_Iain_/2103f6ee.jpg
(a pair of bandit wheel bearings, a gs500 centre spacer, and a rubber seal from the bandit wheel)
Fitted the GS500 bearings & bandit spacer into the bandit wheel, and popped the sprocket/hub on;
https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o574/_Iain_/ef41057a.jpg
Caliper lines up, sprocket lines up, caliper brackets too fat. So either need to get a shorter spacer made up, or grind the caliper bracket down a smidge. But we're talking less than 10mm out, so not bad for a first attempt i feel.
Headlight arrived too. as did the replacement mudguard that i still need to paint....the forks to bolt it all on to? nah. that'd be asking too much. Being held up by this at the moment... ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.

Painted new mudguard that came with some kind of "fenda extenda" from what google tells me.
Replaced flasher relay with an LED relay, even though i'd bought non LED indicators specificly to avoid having to do as such. Indicators now work.
Finally got a refund from ebay for the forks that were a no show, so today ordered replacement forks from an '04 GS500F that look like they've got some kind of adjuster thingy on them. Not sure, but they're the cheapest i could get with good seals. I have hope that being off a later bike they might not be so squishy..time will tell. Have payed a significant amount extra for quick postage...wont be happy if they're not here tomorrow/weds!!
https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o574/_Iain_/T2eC16FHJIYE9qUcNUGWBQWMrOY60_12.jpg
Got a lurverly new wheel on order to match what i plan to do with the bandit wheel.
https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o574/_Iain_/BnL-G7QBmkKGrHqMH-EUEtrC1HGc6BLikP3GNF_12.jpg
And some part worns. Dunlop sportmax's to be exact 110/70/17 & 150/60/17.
https://i1148.photobucket.com/albums/o574/_Iain_/KGrHqFHJDcE-otjQrUBPyzfBLZ7g60_12.jpg
Temporary wired my headlight in to see how bad it realy is, and the answer is very. Going to need to fit HID's to it as a priority when it's back on the road. Managed to find a company that makes a seperate low/hi beam projector unit which is E-marked, and has a 40mm lens, so should just about squeeze in where the current bulbs are. Till then i'll just avoid riding in the dark...
Not mounted up propperly, haterz gonna hate and all that, but i likes it!!

Cant decide between tiny bar end mirrors and some fancy modern pointy jobbies. Need to be able to actually use my mirrors, and i can see the bar ends being an arse filtering given the bars im running are slightly wider already. But then sorting the exhausts a bigger issue than the bloody mirrors. Hopefully going to replace the outer tubing with carbon, and fit a new end cap. retaining the vance & hines manifold, baffle, packing, bottom end and everything. Works out cheaper than a universal can, and should hopefully retain the dimensions, volume, backpressure etc etc that the original can has, and thus leave the system improving performance marginally and not just making lots of noise. ____________________ Please be aware that the above post may be full of complete nonsense.
