Hello All,

As you can see this is my first post! I hope someone can help me and i apologise if this topic has been covered before but i am a little confused on what i need to do to get a license.

I am 22 and have been driving since i was 17. I am now looking at getting a bike mainly for fun but also perhaps some commuting and long (ish) distance driving.

What are the steps i need to take with regard to CBT and getting lessons and a license? I know it probably depends on ability but how much does it cost the average person to get a license?

Many Thanks for anyones advice,

Steve

Oh great thanks mate, i thought there must be something already about this! Is it ok to book up a CBT without having ever ridden a bike before?

I'd only ever been a pillion once when I did my CBT. I found it a lot easier than I thought it would be. It's like riding a bike! It generally keeps itself upright after two or three miles per hour and is top fun.

A rough guess for costs:

CBT - £90
Theory - £20.50
Training and DAS - £350 -> £500 (if done as part of a course and you pass first time!)

Your protective clothing varies massively but make sure you at least by some gloves, boots, jacket with armour in, protective trousers and of course a lid!

Good luck and welcome to the board.
