So WHEN I pass my MOD2, I guess I need to send my licence off to get a little 'A' added to it somewhere? Do they charge for this single keypress?
Couldn't seem to find it on the gov site or from a quick search on here.

When you pass your examiner should ask you if you want him to take the two parts of your license to send off FOC to be returned within the next three weeks.

If you say no, you can then send them off yourself at a later date (which I believe includes a small admin fee).

I was led to believe that the DSA just shred it and ask the DVLA to issue a new one with the new category.

Since I had an extra copy of my license showing my current entitlements, I was OK with surrendering one.

It's probably OK to let them shred it, but treat your pass certificate like it's a winning lottery ticket in case the DVLA make their usual hash of things.

Just thought I'd hijack this thread Razz

When you pass and you gain a full license, how does it effect your insurance and future quotes?
For example
I pass my test and want to buy a new 500cc Bike to replace my 125.
So I tell my insurance my licence has changed and so has my bike, pay the difference ... Yada Yada.
Would this mean in future, I've only held my Licence from my MOD 2 pass, therefore making my 1st NCB pointless

Just getting abit confused Confused
Thanks

You do only hold category A entitlement from the date of your mod 2 pass. At the moment, you have provisional entitlement.

Oh, it gets better, if you pass the 'standard' tests on a 125, then you get "A<=25kW". When that upgrades to unrestricted A 2 years later, the DVLA move the "From:" date on your license forwards 2 years.

Most insurers seem to be able to cope with the idea that we can earn NCD before getting a license, but some of them insist that Computers Says No, particularly about discount earned on a ped at 16.

It's essentially a lottery, anyone else's answer is unlikely to be useful to you.

Thanks all, I'm sitting in the test centre with a MOD2 pass certificate, and they did indeed take my licence. So that's cool. Thumbs Up
