Is that a Honda?
If so my experience shows you'll be lucky to get anything in Honda plastics for £50! Shocked

A reverse SMIDSY, interesting.

I wouldn't have done that, how do you know he hasn't bent your forks or buckled your wheel?

That happened to me years and years ago, I was on a Suzuki GS 550e at the time, handled like a barge and weighed the same, I think.
Fortunately I had a witness, a traffic warden, wrote everything down in his note book. Cool
I wrote a letter to the truck company, and I got £250 and that was, literally, decades ago!

You're cheap! Laughing

I had a good look there and then and all looks fine. came back down the A14 and no signs of wobble etc.

I know I'll never get a new mudguard for £50 but hopefully I'll get a decent used one. It was more or less scrap before this happened anyhow.

I just pictured years of letters from the underwriters etc and, with no tax, and the fact it's me gone into the back end of a car, it wasn't wirth the hassle. I was pretty, pretty close to him too as i thought he was slowing down for a speed bump Embarassed

Next time you have the wheel off twist the forks in there stantions (moving the upper stantions) and look for a movement at the end of the fork leg. I would put £5 at least one of then is bent. The forks are a crumple zone and are very easily damaged.

I'd recommend Maidstone MotoLiner for all your straightening needs. They sorted my forks, yokes and wheel after writing off the front of a fiesta, with them.

I think he means he's waiting for his insurance documents to come through, so can't tax it.

Do they not email you all that?
Don't you need Tax to get insurance rather than needing insurance to get tax?

I suppose you need the V5 document ref number... which is DVLA!

You need insurance to get tax, not the other way round. Many insurers don't email the documentation through, and it can take several days for the policy to appear on the MID, meaning you can't tax it online in the meantime.

Similar thing happened to me a few years ago. I was following a Volvo estate that was packed to the roof inside with stuff so rear vision was totally blocked through the rear window. I had a car behind me when we all stopped at a traffic light and he started reversing. I was beeping and back peddling furiously but the car behind me wasn't moving and the car in front mounted my wheel and cracked my mudguard.

He got out and I was angry and a bit shouty but he was apologetic and offered to fix it asap. I said I'd get a quote for the damage, took all his details and reg and carefully rode it to a garage after work who checked it over and confirmed it was just the mudguard that had broken. I got a quote for a brand new mudguard and it turned out to be £130 from Kawasaki, the guy gave me cash the next day and that was the last I ever saw of him.

Mudguard is still cracked now Laughing

Poop. I don't like being behind vans and big vehicles for this reason, I always stop to the left or right of them and try to sit in their mirrors to avoid that sort of thing happening

Then you get the ones who use their clutch at lights etc and slowly roll back into without them even realising Rolling Eyes

And that's retarded, why is everything the DVLA does always ass backwards and catch-22
