I currently have this od issue with my cb500
i checked some of the other threads on here with a similarish problem to this and you guys came to the same conclsuion just wanted to check you think the same with mine
basically brake light stays on unless i push the front brake lever forward. it will sometimes stay off for a while but once the bike moves it comes on again. I am getting into a nasty habit where i'm riding and constanly pushing the lever frward with my fingers just to make sure the lights going off
reading your other threads you guys seem to think it may be the stop switch under the lever?
any advice or help would be appreciated ____________________ Current bike: Honda CBR 600 F3

Ummm if the switch works when you push the lever forward then it may be that the lever is sticking. Take it apart and give it a good clean. It may even be that the spring in the master cylinder is sticking, which would stop the lever being pushed back. Same advice, take it apart and clean it.
The stop switch has a little spring in it that may of corroded away. It is always worth giving the moving bit a really good blast with WD40 to see if it frees up. Fairly easy to replace the switch if it is faulty and it costs around £10. ____________________ https://www.metacafe.com/watch/1972097/how_to_behave_on_a_forum/ |

If I understand this properly...
The front brake lever is falling back and the brake light is coming on.
This means the piston in the master reservoir is not pushing the lever back. So that means it is not closing the brake switch. It does this when you push the lever forward obviously.
So I would remove the lever and check if anything is fouling the lever. Sometimes the rubber seals can be the problem.
I would think a master reservoir clean is required. It may be worth a refurb of the reservoir. Kits can be had for around £30 (check wemoto, e.g. here - other suppliers are out there).
