GearX Motorcycle Armour.

The intention is to provide some light protection for when I'm pottering around town in good weather. Sometimes I just wear a normal T shirt if I know I'm sticking to familiar 30mph roads, and it feels good, but it also feels needlessly risky - I feel I should have some kind of upper body protection still, even if the potential off is at low speed.

Does that look reasonable for £49.99? Could I do better for the same money or a bit more?

But seriously I wouldn't buy armor from a company I've never heard of, that doesn't have a website, and sells from eBay.

But that's just me I guess.

This.

My post edited when I realised they do in fact have a website Embarassed

Although tbh you could just get a leather jacket for that much, how comes you want the armor?

If money allowed I'd get a more well known brand, but I really can't be spending more than £75 or so.

Dont do it.

I bought a similar knoxx armour set and only ever use the spine protector now. The thing is so uncomfortable and takes forever to get on and off. A leather jacket plus spine protector will do a better job, be quicker to get on and off and be more comfortable. The armour makes me sweat more than the leathers do as well.

The armour looks like it'll be easy to slip in to, and won't make me sweat like my "proper" jacket does. If I decide to just nip into town I can put my Draggin jeans on, put that armour on, put a T shirt over the top and go. I want something that provides an adequate level of protection for a low speed ride, which makes me feel comfortable. I get hot and sweat like a pig easily Wink

Oh dear. That's the opposite of what I hoped it would be like. Confused

ALLO see that material on that there thingy u wanna buy its like thin stretchy cotton with the pads SEWED ON now if u was to buy it and cut em off . then sew them either into or onto a leather that would be pretty sound

but to be honest bro when u go to paintball in that thing u will wish you had bought a cricket cup instead ajajajaja

i dunno man if u feel the need do it `\(*_*)/` when i had my first road bike i had something similar i used i crashed doing 60 on a corner and rolled down the road about 15-20 something metres wearing it and to be honest it did a great job for a bit of cheap plastic .sprang back to my feet and cried about my scratched up paintwork . that sorta body armor comes from the motorcross boys looks like darth vaders battle kit and to be honest is better than nothing u could always wear your t shirt over the top of it . cheap and cheerfull WAAAAAAAAYYYY im so fekin happy today

just buy a leather jacket, its not too hot on the move and you can just leave it unzipped a little to let a nice breeze down, its not just the impact you've got to worry about, would you trust it sliding down the road?

I have a Dainese protection jacket, and it's wicked. Can't speak for that one, but mine takes about 20 seconds (two clips, a strip of velcro and a zip) to remove and put on, looks bad ass on a fightered 1200 bandit and is nice and cool in the summer.

You do have to be relatively big to fill them out though. Skinny people look like a 12 yr old going to their first American football practice. Laughing

I have Komine SK-623 Body Armored Vest. Easy to wear, protects your chest and back. Before I bought this, I had similar one with sleeves but so uncomfortable and takes long time to get on and off.

It's not designed to protect you from the environment you're in.

Look for a Joe Rocket mesh jacket which is.
May not give you the perceived image you desire, however.

It entirely comes down to whether you'll actually wear it every day.

Let us know in 6 months or so.

Oh and I just noted that I think I've got that exact suit (paid £40 I think) got it at Weston Supermare as my old one was looking a bit tatty.
Did the job well enough (thankfully sand is quite soft anyway Smile). I also used it to ride back to the camp site previously I think, but I didn't expect it to offer any useful protection in such a case, just that my body was a useful method to transport it!
