Hi Guys,
Looking to replace my chain pretty soon so I'll be needing this tool. They cost the earth at the moment. Anyone recommend a good brand that's cheap as chips?
Many thanks Thumbs Up

I replaced my chain not long ago with a nicer chain that had a rivet link. I phoned around to find a good price for a rivet tool, and was advised against wasting money on one by a (I believe) reputable bike mechanic. I was told the easiest way is to use a heavy weight to put behind the chain, a 12mm socket and a peening hammer to get the rivet link on.

After I managed to get the link on I popped over to see the guy (at his suggestion and free of charge - top bloke) so he could look at it and make sure it was on right. He used some F1 ballast to brace the chain, and all was good. Took him about a minute to do.

I haven't used riveters myself so I can't say how good or bad they are, but the peening hammer method is a 2 man job and pretty easy to do.
