Hi Folks,

Been awhile since i posted on the forum, i read it but dont really have anything to add most of the time so dont bother lol

Anyways, there's a good chance ill be back on a bike in the near future after the best part of 5 years off (off bikes had a 250cc scooter for 2 and abit of those years had a 2012 R1 for a very brief time so it doesn't could tbh)

Me and the missus are going to test ride the MT07 and MT09 Saturday so chances are one of them will be in my garage soon.

For me sportsbikes have had their day so thought i would go for something a little more upright and fun at lower speed.... also i need to learn the skills again Razz

Any hoot hope your all good

Craigt

Maybe in a couple of years, need to rebuild the old NCB, the days of me being willing to spend serious money on bike insurance are long behind me.
Its made doubly bad because my wife wants to ride it as well (named rider) but has also lost her ncb, we sold all out toys when things went tits up with our wedding plans last minute and we needed a quick cash injection.

Most folks that ride them can't say enough good things about them. I wanted to test the MT-07 but the courtesy bike insurance only covered up to 660cc for new riders, I believe the bike is 690cc. Gutted. Confused

The 09 is what you want. Triple engines are perfect. Consider the street triple also. Not managed to ride the 09 but I cannot wait to get back on my triple.

Hi Folks,

Thought i would add an update. After test riding a few different bike i decided on an MT-07, it suited my needs perfectly and i genuinely enjoyed the test ride.
I picked it up earlier this week.

Here she is.
https://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa134/craigt19/Bike_zpseumm6a4y.jpg

So far ive done a couple hundred miles and have loved it, as i said before after a few years off bikes i wanted summin that would be fun at more reasonable speeds.
The bike is extremely easy to ride...its so so light and flickable, the engine sounds great and it pulls well right off the get-go and there are no noticeable flat spots (still running it in so haven't been all over the rpm range), but its a little quiet so ill be putting on an aftermarket exhaust soon.

Its very very comfortable, the seating position is very neutral with my feet tucked slightly back, im over 6ft and find the seating position spot on with no strain on my shoulders which is great as my upper back is in abit of a mess after a few too many sports-bike "offs".

The brakes and suspension are great, well up to the task at hand... if anything i have found the suspension a little on the hard side.

Only other thing i can think to talk about is the tank range, its got a very small tank at 12ltrs+2ltr reserve but ive seen 130 miles from a tank and am on course for roughly the same from the second averaging around 63mpg.

I'm really pleased with it, and wont be moving on anytime soon, but when i do we have already decided to keep the bike as its such a great all rounder.

All the best folks

Craig

Very good - the only problem is, there aren't any around old enough for me to be able to afford!

Are you sure about the fuel? You must have filled up early as 12l of the main tank = 2.63 gallons making 42.42mpg with your 130 miles.

Hi Flatbadger sorry for the late response, been one of those weeks at work and the bikes been locked in the garage.

I probably did fill up too early, as soon as i see 1 bar i refilled, just checked the manual and 1 bar isn't empty, no bars and a flashing fuel pump pic means reserve so god knows how much was in it.

I'm taking it out again tomorrow so ill take a few pics of the numbers on the dash, the mpg has dropped to around 58avg i think but ill see tomorrow.

cheers
