Just a few pics of bikes I have owned for built over the years.
Unfortunately, I was never one for taking pics in the past, so don't have a complete history of my bikes, but here are the one I have:

RD400 no1!
Bought this new in 1976 to replace the last of the air cooled 350s that I had which had been nicked.
At the time, if memory serves me right, 1st production bike with alloy wheels, discs back and front and self cancelling indicators!

Next one was a few years later, another RD400 this time a 79, with a few mods and spannies

Moved up a bit then, to a Laverda Jota.
Lovely bit of kit, bored to 1200, special cams, big valve head, carbs opened out 2 mm, fork brace, braided hoses.
Monster of a motor, could pull up trees!

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/Image14.jpg

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/Image15.jpg

Then after a break of a few years, another RD400!!
This was how I bought it

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/Image16.jpg

Only pic I have after i rebuilt it.
Correct RD wheel fitted in the LC front end, engine rebuilt with new crank and Stan Stevens stage 2 430cc barrels ans polished cases.

After another break from bikes, a good mate gave me a CBR600FM that he had bought and stripped, but then couldn't decide what to do with it!
It had been a 3rd party write off, unrecorded, mainly fairing damage.
I spent a year of so gathering the bits, mainly from ebay, before getting a friend in the trade to paint it for me.

As I bought it home

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/Untitled-1.jpg

Trial fitting panels

Done

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/CCM00005.jpg

Ran it for a year, then decided it could be better, so had the wheels painted, new can, a bit more paint and polish!

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/DSCF0005.jpg

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/DSCF0004.jpg

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/P8290021.jpg

Then a got the bike I'd wanted since I first saw one: a RRS Fireblade

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/P6240004.jpg

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/P6240006.jpg

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/P6240007.jpg

https://i1247.photobucket.com/albums/gg640/daverwheeler/P90700111.jpg

Love the 'Blade, runs sweet, its been dyno jetted and got a few nice bits on it but nothing too crazy.

I had a few other bikes that I don't have pics of including Suzuki GT550 and 750 2 stroke triples and an old Honda S90!

So still have the Fireblade and also a DT80 that I am rebuilding, follow the thread on here.

There was a U-Tube clip not long ago of some archive film they found from pre-quake San-Franscisco, circa 1903 or something... and it was amazing looking at the street scene of the TRAFFIC JAMS, of all the old vintage cars! It was only the cars that dates it!

But yeah! I moved into teh street I live in now, 14 years ago, and in my block there were only three houses with cars... me being one of them... now infuriating how hard it is to back off my drive between them parked along the kerb! And thats in barely a decade!

Remember riding round Sheldon on my rider training twenty five yesars ago, and being expected to indicate to go round 'parked cars'! Drove round there a month back bringing my daughter back from Ice Skating..... the broad 60's concrete beulivards I remember, now a single carriageway between parked cars!

Wonder what MY kids when they are my age say when they look back on happy-snaps and make comments...
"LOOK... CARS... remember when every-one had one of them! AND they Worked.... you know, before the oil ran out!"
Or whether they'll be saying things like
"Look, at the ROADS they point both ways! Remember that! Before they built the split level roads with them going in different directions on different levels..... WHAT were those orange lights for, any-one remember?! - Oh Yeah, they had STEERING WHEELS! Boy remember them! When Dad had to waggle things, and work levers, before Auto-Nav! Boy, were those cars PRIMATIVE!... Oh YEAH! And braking for them yellow boxes! What was it 'Speeding'! That was it! LOL... cant do THAT any more!"

Yup. '98
When I moved in, in the 'block' I live in, I think there's about 25 houses? 1950's build, most homes were occupied by more elderly couples, families grown up and moved out.
More cars in the street on a Sunday when the kids came round for Sunday Dinner!
There was a woman lived over the road, was a 'home help'; she had a beaten up old Meastro. There was a bloke a few doors down, with a young family, he had a Kawasaki KH125, so his missus could have use of the family car... a Renualt Espace. Then there was the mechanic lives opposite, who at the time had a Range-Rover.
That was it.
Actually.... Dave over the road, had a GSX400, and lad at the top of the street had a GSX600, so add the KH125 and we had as many BIKES in the street as cars!
I had an XR2 and the VF1000.
The 'wrinklies' have slowly been shuffled off to care homes or whatever, and newer residents more younger families or couples.
Each bringing with them at least one if not two cars, which often have a combined length greater then the frontage of their house!

Laughing They dont make'em like that any-more, do they!

Found that early 1900's Movie Clip of San Francisco:-
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFmHhzwA-2Q
Aparently the footage was shot before the 'great-quake', and sent for processing; but quake happened and after processing was returned to sender because address no longer existed; so was filed in a New-York vault until rediscovered after 100 years... or something like that. Astounding just how 'fast' the car took off in america. The footage is something like 1904, barely ten years since the first practicable cars, yet there they are, creating traffic jams that we only think of as being a 'modern' thing!

Yeah I loved the Jota, it was a very special bike, but had to sell it, due to personal crap, so let it go to a dealer for a steal. Heartbreaker!
