Ok, this piece of crap has just been serviced, poked and cleaned up and runs pukka. Im looking for a set of forks and then its road worthy again.
But! I want to have some fun with it, see what i can get out of it. What i don't like about it is the airbox all shielded and hidden up the back there with no real induction.
I have a seen a DNA 125 with the airbox removed and universal K&N Filter which seems to be just bolted on. This was seen on a bike on a ebay aution here...
https://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=9923&item=2476972703&rd=1
Bit of a weird auction but the kit is certainly on it, Air filter is the out of place shiny thing at the back.
Heres the K&N Site for the type of filter it appears to be:
https://www.knpowersports.com/universal/univrndstrt.htm
They don't do an aplication specific i know that for sure as i asked them and they said they won't ever be doing one.
Any ideas on a decent can. I have emailed Zorstec but im sure they'll only do thiers for bikes with cc's not stabalisers!
But yeah, i have lost my marbles but If i can do myself a cheap enough job some kit will pay good money for this when its done.
Also, anyone got any sites for 3rd party footpegs that fold in also. The DNA ones just bolt though.
If you need pics i can get some, but im picking her up tomorrow. Cheers, Dup. |

I'd imagine theres allot can be done to give it a bit more poke however.. bear in mind that your going to have to inform your insureance company, i guess your on a CBT licence? any more than 15bhp will have you rideing without a licence and without insureance which can get you in BIG trouble...
When it comes to selling, tuned = ragged to death (thats what it will read like to the buyer, just look in any buyers guide), it won't do you any favours when selling generally...
All in all to be perfectly honest just save your money and spend it on doing direct access/restricted test (something like £300/400) you can then go buy a 33bhp bike with what you sell the DNA for, whith the added bonus of being less likely to get killed!
I know its not what you want to hear but thats how it is, i spent nearly a year on a cg125 and i know what slow is, quite how i didn't get killed i'm not sure...
That is of course assumeing your under 21 and on a cbt... ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

To make any significant difference you'd have to spend a few hundred pounds, you can change the filter and you'd have to have it set up again you might gain a couple of hp if your lucky, even haveing it bored out woun't make an enorumous difference and even if you did manage to get more power it will only explode after a few months!
Best you could do it get a front sprockett with two less teeth on the front to improve acceleration (you will loose some top speed but you willl get to use it more often...)
I really hate to say it and you don't want to hear it but save your money for now, fiddleing will get you minor difference at best and a knackered bike with invalid insureance at worst.
Untill last year i was in a very similar position, i had a cg125 i know how it is trust me (as do most people on here)
If you get £1000 for the gillera that will buy you a cb500 or gs500, not exciteing but a **** load better than a 125 any day. I got my cx for £1000 and its fantastic, old and lardy but its carryed me for a couple of hundred miles at a time in comfort and without any problems whatsoever, you can't say that about allot of £3000 bikes...
I wish there were a way to make these into snorting beasts but you'd be wasteing time and money ____________________ >RidingSkills<->Tech Tips<->MyBikes< |

The footpegs:
https://www.oem-uk.com/shop/acatalog/DNA.html
Very nice pegs are OEM's pricey but you get quality
The Air Filter:
Yes it is posible, that Ebay auction on the DNA 125 that has a "Race Kit" is stupidly expensive and I doubt any of the mods he have done have added much speed.
It would probably be worth jetting up a bit if you fit a filter. There are loads of other people who make filters for scooters other than K&N, Malossi, Polini, Hebo etc. these are probably more suitable as the DNA has quite a small carb as standard and most K&N's are desigend for big bike or car carbs.
As for the exhausts: There are quite a few nice pipes for the DNA as it shares the same piaggio engine with a fair few other scooters.
This is the NHRC Carbon pipe, Taffspeed sell them, I have seen this on a runner 125 and it looked and sounded pretty good

Scorpion also make a pipe for the DNA 125, this is the pipe although it is shown on the ET4, it looks almost exactly the same for a DNA.
https://www.scorpion-exhausts.com/uploads/vehicles/scooters/CLOSE-low-res.jpg
PM tuning also do a pipe which looks like this:

If you want to really up the power there is a 210cc kit that fits your 125
