Hey guys! I know that there are a lot of you out there who want to fit mini indicators to you're NSR but are either put of or unable to fit them because of the whole problem of them flashing too fast or too slow! I know because I had that problem when i fitted mine!
Why is there this problem?
Well it is because the standard indicators have lower wattage bulbs in them. Because of this the relay in the NSR is a lower capacity one. When new higher wattage bulbs are fitted it 'overloads' the relay and causes it to function improperly.
Well that’s the problem, now to solve it!
Yes, the indicator relay needs changing.
Here is how you do it:
The relay is the small black box located under the bar in the rear of the bike (The bar that the rear seat catch is fitted to). It is held onto the black plastic under tray of the bike and is quite fiddly to remove but there are no screws or anything like that holding it, it just slides on to a clip.
When you have removed it you will find that there are 2 flat pins where the old relay used to be.
You will need to now go to your local garage and purchase a higher capacity relay. It is best to take you're old relay with you to show them what type it is and tell them that you need a higher capacity relay. (I can’t remember off hand what size the one i bought was, but the garage guys should know that!)
Once you have bought the new relay, fit it to where the old one used to be (simply slide the pins into the pin holes on the relay.) You may not be able to attach it to the old slide on peg as it is very hard. I didn't but it has some duct tape holding it secure.
Once it is fitted, fit your new indicators (without changing the bulbs) and stand back in amazement as your new mini indicators flash properly!
You're done!
If you have any other questions then feel free to ask and i will try my best to help! ____________________
