So me and a friend went travelling across Europe for a month on my restricted 99 ZZR 600 (which just about managed 2 up and fully loaded). This is the basic route we did: www.tinyurl.com/biketrip2012 but because we're both somewhat retarded, we ended up missing the Gorge du Verdon because we thought it was somewhere above Barcelona on the way back to Calais so we went to Gorge du Tarn instead.
We had a tent and managed to make the entire trip (a month or so) without paying for accommodation at any point. We just camped in isolated areas.
Anyway, heres some pictures. Lots of non bike pics, but can't be bothered uploading, so take a flick through if interested.

All was fine until the second last day of the trip: got caught overtaking on solid white lines and the gendarme fined me 90 euros.
On the last day (travelling back to Calais) managed to somehow lose the back end entering a roundabout, bike was wrecked and only made it back to England 2 days ago (2 weeks after I got back).
Thankfully I took out breakdown cover for the trip for the princely sum of £38 from Express Insurance which came in very very handy. And they dealt with it very well, so Express Breakdown Cover comes highly recommended by me.
As is all of Italy, a fucking incredibly beautiful country with beautiful people. Not the best for roads, they don't really seem to care much about road surfacing, but it was a lot of fun riding like an absolute twat in Rome. Austria had some lovely roads, Grossglockner is well worth the 22 Euros or whatever it is.
Southern France has some lovely roads too, unfortunately the ZZR grounds out rather easily when two up and fully loaded, but still quite fun to slam the bike onto the center stand on every corner
Separate thread incoming on how to fix my bike! |
