Hi,

Having just managed to sell my old bike which was a '93 GS500E I'm on a lookout for a new one and all I've been able to come up with that meets my wallet is a '91 Suzuki GSX7500F and a '89 Honda VFR750.

Now I know that both are rather old but they look great (even the teapot) in my opinion once they have been given a proper paintjob.

Now my question is which of the two would you choose? And is there any improvement in power compared to my GS500E provided that both are such old bikes.

And what should I look out for when buying them? Any known wekspots worth checking before any real consideration?

Thanks! Smile

Get the gsx for the simple reason its a detuned gsxr750 engine which for about £100 in parts can be made to about 110bhp.

Hi

The Teapot build quality was not great while the VFR was quite good (rumour has it that Honda sold the original VFR750 at a loss to try and make up for getting hammered with the self destructing VF750).

Personally I would go for the VFR750.

All the best

Keith

both could be clappers by now. you should see if you can ride them. both are more then your gs. your talking about an inline 4 engine vs a V style so the power delievery is gonna be way different. The katana had a few more ponies stock and a little wider rear tire 150(depending on what country you are in). The katana was air/oil cooled older generation gsxr motor.

The vfr depends on if it was an rc30 or an rc24. Im in the US so we saw the rc 30 i believe. had a 170 rear tire. liquid cooled v4, about 100hp.

either one has about double your gs in terms of hp. i think you would have a blast on both.

Shift,
In this country the VFR750R is simply known as an RC30.

I think this gentleman means the VFR750F. Smile

Remember kids, bikes aren't like lego. You can't easily take a part from one bike and then fit it to another.

Thanks a lot for the answers! Smile

Does anyone know the acceleration for the both bikes and how much fuel they take?
I've heard one of the low sides of VFR750 is the fuel economy so that got me a bit worried since petrol prices have gone up in here (Estonia).
