going to work at quarter past 5 in the morning i go though the lanes before going on the A127 but soon as i set off get some speed around a bend then open the bike up on the straight and i see a flock of pigeons on the road they all fly off in plenty of time apart from one who fly's into my chest, felt like someone kicked a football at me, i was going about 80 lucky i didnt wobble the bars and come off

went back to the bird and was stone cold dead, fuck that hitting my face and breaking my visor

I think i have to slow down when on that road as its not the first time ive almost hit a bird down there

Unlucky mate, shall we make it into official road kill thread? Laughing

I got hit by a pigeon about two weeks ago just by the exit of the tunnel in Dover going through the hill (can never remember the name of the place). Right in the head too Razz I didn't bother to go after it but I presume it was allright. Luckily, visor's all good.

A guy round here was killed a few years ago when a pheasant struck his lid and was assumed to make him crash on what can be a quick road.

Hit a couple of small birds myself over the past couple of months. Always on country lanes with hedges either side of them. The stupid bloody things have a habit of flying out of one hedge straight across the road in front of you, to a hedge on the other side of the road. I guess it's the bird version of a smidsy. Thankfully though, it's them that end up worse off.

Wish I only skimmed that squirrel three weeks ago Razz
Squirrel's logic: Sit on a roadsite, eat a peanut - bike comes down the road -
wait until bike gets 3 feet from you - gun it to the other side of the road
= Bike goes over its head, both wheels. Let's just say that I've saved a lot of innocent peanuts that day.

(I did took the corpse off the road mind you, I'm considerate like that)

Being hit by a 1lb bird at 80mph in the face will do more than break your visor.

Pointless really. That's the job of the crows, cleaning up all the roadkill.

I pulled over and went back to the bird, which was stone cold dead. I was very lucky it hadn't hit my face and broken my visor.

I should have known to ride slower on that road as I've almost hit birds there before.

I had an owl fly into my leg. I stopped for it and it had a broken wing so I rung its neck, which proved more difficult than pheasants and even ducks.

Also had a sparrow fly into my shoulder at ~100.

Although have to say the most painful was a butterfly to the nipple when wearing a thin jacket which wet. Man that hurt.
