I know what you all going to say but I think its about time I start exercising.

I am looking for somebody who lives near bracknell or readding who wants to come along to a gym with my 2-3 nights a week.

I would go on my own but I think if I have somebody with me I would achieve more.

If your not sure you will be able to afford to go or you dont know if you have the time dont say you will do it.

I'd love to Kev but I don't live anywhere near you and I'm far to lazy!

You can train just as well in your own home with a few simple things like some free weights and a chin up bar or a rafter of some sort.
This way you'll save money.
Be more motivated because you won't have an excuse not to go when you can do it in the comfort of your own home.
You won't be rushed by the brick sh*t houses waiting for you to get off the machine.
You get a better workout using free weights etc. then using the machines at the gym that do most of the work for you.
You can prepare your meals and have them right away, which is quite important.......there 70% of your training.

I'm sure a lot of people here have heard of Joe Calzaghe? The super middleweight champion? 36 wins, no draws, no losses.
He doesn't use any machines or weights, just basic things like running, press ups, sit ups, skipping etc.
Considering his record and how he looks, he's got to be doing something right.

I used to go to a gym, personally didn't get on with it as I'm weird and don't like being around other people, let alone doing exercise and crap there, so ended up not going lol

But I agree with the above, you'd probably be better of making up a home gym, start off with basic stuff and increase it over the time, then you can work out when you want etc..

I've been thinking about joining a gym but I have no one to go with. I feel If I go by myself I won't push myself. I'll just loo kat everything and walk away! Laughing
If I have someone with me I'd probably do that bit extra and maybe actually do something.
Might just get a few weights and things and do something at home.

Thinking about it, when I went to the gym on my own down here in Portsmouth, I barely did anything and stayed for short periods of times.

When I was in Wales however, I used to go to the gym all the time with my cousin and it was like a competition every time lol always pushing it, doing that extra bit and generally worked out for an hour or two.

So best go with someone else then I guess.

Hiya,
I go to the John Nike Leisure Centre gym on tues + thurs lunchtimes - you're welcome to come along if you're nearby. I'll give you a race on the exercise bikes! Very Happy
I used to go to the Loddon Valley one by Asda Lower Earley in the evenings but since having the nipper in Oct I just don't have time, but I can deffo recommend it as a friendly well equipped place.
Have fun!

It's far too easy to put it of if you're doing it at home 'just another 10 minutes then I'll do some exercuse you tell yourself. Then it's ten thirty and a too late to be banging aroumnd. Or maybe I'm just crap.

Might be interested Kev.... as from my other thread I do want to sort it out as I've been saying I will do for the last many years.

Would probably prefer something Reading kind of area though... and not /too/ expensive.

Right on the money Razz
You could use the same excuse about the gym though. Oh another ten minutes and I'll walk to the gym......even though it's raining and really cold....sod it, I'll make up for it tomorrow.

If your too lazy to even help yourself then it doesn't matter if it's in the comfort of your own home or in a room with a load of sweaty males, you wouldn't do it either way.

I'm very glad to say it looks nothing like the shed it's portrayed as in the Ali G film! And it's still there!

Yep, been there, done that.
Some people are just born lazy Razz (Or maybe it's the rest of life... either way Smile )

Thus if you're agreeing to meet someone at a certain time at a gym at get a bit of 'competitive spirit' up, you're more likley to actually do stuff.
