Right I need a little help. my srad runs great for a couple of miles, then loses all power and dies, but starts pretty much strait after. I have tried the following things..

Rode with tank open
Checked all connections to and from carbs
Checked fuel filters
Used alot of carb cleaner

Im stuck. Rides fine, then starts to sound like its only firing on 3 cylinders, then loses all power dies, then starts again. It happens intermittently, regardless of speed, temperature, how long I have been riding etc. I know the bike was sat for a while just before i got it. (only had it a couple of weeks)

Any help would be great

Thanks Thumbs Up [/quote]

Have you checked the connector to/from the fuel pump?

Has the air filter been replaced recently?

Are the battery connections tight?

Go to www.gixerjunkies.com as someone on there is bound to have come across a similar situation with the same bike.

Try riding with the fuel cap open and see if that helps.

Could be blocked breather.. or it could be your fuel pump.. They have contacts on them (open and close) these burn out and you get what you are getting.

I have repaired a few of these,, easy if you are good with soldering iron..

Thumbs Up

Checked fuel pump, think its working ok, it primes when it starts, all connections look OK. As for breathers the two coming out the back of the petrol tank don't seem blocked. out of ideas now. Anything other ideas anyone??

thanks!

Have you actually checked the battery connections are tight? When i collected my ZZR, it kept cutting out completely and coasting to a stop, but would start again immediately. i got it home, took the seat off to check the usual connections and both battery terminals were loose - not even finger tight!!!! Its worth checking if the bike had been stood, then the battery removed for a charge before you got it. possible they forgot to retighten the connections?
