Dropped my daughter off for her CBT today but by the time the instructor was happy with her clutch control, the heavens really opened up!
She's gonna have another go tomorrow. Thumbs Up
On the plus side, they did her a pretty good deal on some gear.
Helmet, jacket, gloves and a cable lock for £130.

Interesting. Did she not get the full day then?or did she get the full day but the instructor wasn't happy with the progress and asked her back for a second day?or did it start raining and they abandoned the day?

I wouldn't be happy if it was the latter. If you pay £110 for a days cbt training, you expect them to do the full day, not abandon it half way because of a bit of rain.

Tbf, my daughter and the other learner in her group have very little bike or road experience.
I think they were about to go out on the road and the instructor did ask if they both wanted to go but I think they both chose the right option given the conditions and their inexperience.
I certainly wouldn't have chosen to go.
There's no extra cost.

Yeah, right decision imho. Last Friday when I did mine, I didn't feel that confident in going on the road, at that was dry and sunny...but I'm glad I did, I felt I learnt more in the 2 hour road ride than I did in the compound. I'd have been a tad worried had it been raining bad though. And I must admit, having never ridden a bike before, I found it quite a steep learning curve.

Hope your daughter did ok second day and weather was better.

She got through ok. Thumbs Up
Had a little wobble right at the start when she pulled up at a round-a-bout, stalled the bike, hit the kill switch instead of the ignition and couldn't work out what she'd done.
Apart from that the only niggles were the usual forgetting to cancel the indicators and the odd stall.
She had little previous experience of a clutch so I thought she did rather well for how green she was, and so did the examiner. Thumbs Up

She's now sitting here watching TV in her jacket and lid! Laughing

when i did my cbt it was probably raining worse than it had for about 5 months Laughing We waited for about half hour and then gave in and went out anyway. I actually enjoyed it more than the other day i did my cbt when it was sunny Laughing
I understand why they would delay it, but everyone has to go out into the rain sometime.

Our instructor basically said before we went out that if we start stalling at roundabouts or junctions then he wouldn't pass us. Hence I was over cautious when stopping and starting, so much so I ended up praying every time we approached lights that they would stay green or at an island that no traffic was coming...obviously that never happened!

Glas she did ok and can now start getting real experience on the road

Definitely the right decision to postpone it.

Friend of a friend went out on her CBT in the pouring rain and unfortunately came off. She wasn't hurt bad just a few bruises but it was enough for her to vow never to get on a bike again.

Everyone's got to ride in the rain sometime but I do believe putting it off for a bit and getting some experience first is a darn good thing.

I agree.
Her instructor, Martyn at 1on1 rider training, was excellent.
Some guys on here get instructors who just don't seem interested in the CBT session at all which makes for a bad experience so its always nice to get a good one.
He did mt CBT which went very well so I was confident he could get my daughter through hers.
I highly recommend these people if your in my neck of the woods. Thumbs Up
