Well there it is!

After owning my little CG for the last 4 months and covering slightly less than 1000 miles, mostly in 10-20 minute trips and the occasional "ride out" with my mate on his SV (of which I am very jealous Mad ) I decided to this week attempt an approximately 600 mile round trip from Chelmsford, Essex to Newcastle and back.

I have to say my legs felt like jelly at the end of both journeys - I stayed 2 nights in newcastle - but it was mightily fun! Mr. Green

Makes me think I'll have to get a Pan-Euro when I can afford it... Once I get through my few bachelor years of sports bikes anyway, as touring has definitely got under my skin now!

Anyone else done long trips on 125's? I now know they are very possible... Just need to allow plenty of time! It was very fun though Twisted Evil says the sadist in me!

EDIT: This would have been in the show and tell, if my camera hadn't broken just before I left Sad with nothing to show, I thought it would fit better here!

I have never done a trip yet but im planning to when i get my 125
I'm going to do London to Paris hopefully, but i have had thoughts of buying an old Honda Cub and putting in a Lifan 140 Manual Pit bike engine in and doing the trip on that, did you have any issues with your bike and how much did it cost in fuel Razz

my little 125 Jinlun Texan (JL 125-11) has been all over the country. Had 4k miles when i got it, now it's got nearly 40k miles on the clock cos of 2 years of abuse from me. Love that bike and so comfy for long rides.
Still, glad she's retired for the yammy now, the extra power makes it more enjoyable

SomeGuyy, yeah that is a good idea for a trip for sure, go for it! It will be a great laugh! I didn't really have any issues with my bike, I made sure I checked all the fluid levels before I left and checked the tyre pressures before each leg of the journey, making sure they were fully pumped up.. But no, no untoward engine explosions or any real mishaps Very Happy it cost about 30 pounds in petrol, I filled up 14 when I left home, filling up again about 80 miles from newcastle, which then got me halfway home, and a final top up of about 8-9 pounds took me home with half a tank left in. And that was "thrashing" it, maintaining for most of my journey a speed between 60-68 :p so fuel efficiency was not at its highest!

And well that is just awesome matt, I hope to clock up my fair share of miles between now and next march when I shall be upgrading, and handing the CG on to the next loving owner! It had 7k when I bought it, I see it having no less than 20 by next year Smile

Good times!

Tbh, the best thing about 125's, especially comfortable ones is that once you're used to it they're just so easy to ride and the distance doesn't feel anywhere near as far as it really is

I completely agree. Though I think your second point probably also applies to a Pan Euro? Laughing

Hahaha don't worry mate it wasn't a question, you've ridden more bikes than me!
My list is my Honda CG 125
My mates SV 650
My other mates GSXR 6
My dad's NC700X.

So... Yeah.
The comfortable bikes are the ones with hard seats! Can't wait to get myself a tourer now, can't wait at all!

Took my cg125 to Scotland for 4 days and covered around 1300 miles this was around October last year.In the first day I must have covered like 350 miles and my back felt like it was in pieces due to luggin a rucksack along with my clothes and stuff in. In the highlands the bike felt like a kite i felt like i was being pushed constantly and she would only do 50-55mph on the motorway heading back south on the final day it got that bad that the wind made the right plastic bolt snap clean off.....the actual number plate was only being held by one bolt Wink

Other than that the bike was alot of fun to ride along some of Scotlands amazing roads they truly are underrated, however this time around I think I would take my bigger bike. Other than that I went to London a few weeks back with a friend and unfortunatly my engine died due to my idiocy so no more trips on the cg till its fixed -_-

haven't done any tours on the Hyosung, but 2 days after my 17th I rode down to Glastonbury/Yeovilton for work, getting onto the A303 in the pissing rain was...fun to say the least! Filtering through the traffic near Stonehenge was great until they all overtook me again when the road opened out, overall an alright trip but I did get tired of constantly changing from 5th to 4th and back again to keep it at/near 70.

When I get it back after its crash repairs I'm gonna take it to London, it will be 3 weeks this sunday since the crash, god I miss riding Sad
