No. But then the last bike he rode was a 250 about 30 years ago.

EDIT: Because he might die, rather than because he'd break an insured piece of metal.

No the last two wheeled thing he rode on the road was 40bhp and probably 40 years ago. He cacked his pants at the clunk the Honda box makes when going in to first gear. Mr. Green

Yes, because the bike I'm riding at the moment was his, until I got it running again. Congratulations on pointing out how much money you've spunked on it, again - we're all really impressed by the big numbers.

Why bring money into it mr brag Wink

No horsepower or torque figures, astounding work!

But I wouldn't care, people have let me ride 10k bikes and drive 160k cars... doesn't bother some people.

My keys are up for grabs at most BCF meets Laughing

lol - the cost of the bike had relevance to the question, i'm sure many people would let someone ride their bike if it was worth £1,500, but binning a £22k bike is a little different to binning a £1,500 bike !

why does it bother so many people when money is mentioned ?

rich kid racing ? wtf are you on about ? a lot of people would get into a flame war, i won't, we are all equal

Because you always mention money when it comes to your italian shed.

How is it different, if a person crashes my bike, they pay for the repairs. If they don't, small claims court.

Its still a persons bike. I've put a dent in someones car once which cost me £350 to put right, but booked it in and called him the second it happened, said its being fixed and problem solved.

I have bikes for riding, not looking pretty.

If I spent £22k on a bike it'd be because I had a massive amount more money spare, so it wouldn't worry me.
That's why I haven't spent near that much on a bike.

The value of an item to you is still going to be relative to how you value money.
Someone with a couple of hundred million in the bank is probably going to be more relaxed about a £50k bike than someone on the bread line who needs their £500 commuter to get to work.

biggest bike he had been on before would have been a z750 from about 1982

it took me 4 years to let him have a go though lol

That depends. Can your dad still put you over his knee and give you a hiding for not listening? Laughing

Wouldn't ever buy a 22K bike unless I won the lottery or some shit. Don't see the point. Well if I'm being honest, spending anything more than 5K on a bike seems silly. And even 5K is excessive Laughing

But sure, I'd let my dad ride my bike. He used to ride bikes when I was just a kid.

I would, and have, he's got around 60 years riding experience.

It's more like the other way round for me.

He's got a 1947 Vincent which he happily lets me ride, I'm not thinking of the price tag if I damage it, I'm thinking of the sentimental value of it, building it up over the years and keeping it the condition he has.

I'd rather damage a 22k bike that you can still buy again and parts off the shelf.

For me a bike's worth is what it mean's to the owner not the price tag.

Sorry but how is it different? Someone binning your bike, regardless of how much you've wasted on it, is still someone binning your bike.

In fact it would probably mean more to someone with the £1500 bike than it would to the guy who owns the 22K bike for the simple reason that if you have that kind of money you can replace your bike easier.

Personally if my bike was binned I could not afford to replace it.

bluex5, negativity will get you no where in life, there are people on the audisrs forum that are buying 80k cars with cash, do i talk to them like you talk to me, nope, that's because i know they've done something to be able to afford such luxuries, they've taken no money from me, so why would i be negative to them

i've had a little success in my life, as have a lot of other people, why does it upset you ?

and when i bought my bike i pretty much spent my whole yearly salary on it anyways, you think i earn £500,000 a year lolol

lol -you think i could randomly afford to replace my bike, like fuck do i have that sort of miney sitting around lolol

i'm not rich, i just invest a lot of the money i earn on engine related products, there's a difference between skinting yourself on things you love and being rich and buying things for the sake of it

You're the one that keeps making a point of how much you've spent on it. None of us would bother mentioning it, if you didn't keep drawing attention to how much money you've dropped on the thing.

I've let my old man ride every bike I've owned if he's asked, but then he's been riding over 40 years, rides daily to work, and owns 3 bikes himself, so I dont really have much to worry about.

Yeah, he doesn't need breakdown cover?

Full licence, so what. I went from 11hp to 150hp+ only difference was I used the throttle less.

having never spent more than 2K on a vehicle, i have no idea how i would feel about letting someone borrow it, family or otherwise.

but then if i did have 22K to spunk on anything i would buy a ducati, then tell everyone about how much it cost at every available opportunity, even if it had probably depreciated like hell now.......... Rolling Eyes

talk of money is just seen as crass, that's all. Thumbs Up nice bike though Thumbs Up

No but I'm sure if your bike was to be trashed you could replace it with another bike, Perhaps not the same make and model but I'm damn sure you could replace it.

If you can manage to spend 22K on a bike you could easily gather £1500 to replace it with another bike. That is what I am saying.
