Got home this afternoon and left the moped outside in case I fancied a ride later on,
come 7pm the guys from next door came round and we end up going for a pint, arrived home an hour later and my moped's on its side...
picked it up and something has bent
The bars turn fine when full lock left (as it was when it fell) for about 5 inches, then it gets stiff and a grinding noise happens. Completely unsafe to ride (tried to go up the street).
Going to have to strip it down as being a moped you cant see any of the forks for the plastic front (not worthy of being called a fairing).
100% sure it was pushed as it was parked between my own and a neighbors car that hasn't moved all day.
Before i look at it, any ideas as to how bad the damage is going to be?
one unhappy man,

I had that where I used to work. Was in a secure underground car park, some pushed it onto its side and the handlebar went through the spokes of the wheel of a pedal bike - whats the odds on that!! Ever tried pulling a motorbike handlebar back through a pedal bike wheel with spokes? Nigh on impossible matey, it took hours with no tools |

I'm rather lucky
the forks were not bent, nor the handlebar stem???
this seems odd, well after looking at it, i'm yet to put the thing back together but towards the top of the stem where the bars join the stem, just above the bearing case is a steel lip, thats curved over the nut that holds in the bearing. This lip is welded onto the stem and it looks as though only the lip has bent. so have knocked it back with a hammer and masonry chisel (always got the tools - lol) and am off for a ride, see if it rides in a straight line.
fingers crossed! |
